Moodymann - I Can't Kick This Feeling

Last Sunday Damian Lazarus played at SpyBar Chicago and dropped this awesome remix of Chic - I Want Your Love. Its so hypnotic, really really good deep house. Gotta love the Stevie Wonder sample at the end too. I just went to buy the vinyl but its pricey as fuck, hopefully I'll be able to find a cheaper copy somewhere...

I LOVE 'I Want Your Love'

Anyone really like the Todd Terje Edit? Another great song that samples it is Piere LX - Sketch Drive

YEAH! Moodymann! Deep house like the way it should be. This one is my #2 from Moody, my favourite track from him is simply called "The Third Track", a bit different from "I Can't Kick This Feeling", but shorter and very disco-ish.

Glad you discovered something good. '90s deep house sound is fucking phenomenal.

I recommend checking out the Prescription label if you liked that track.

The label is very varied - I dont want you to stumble on something you may regret buying. So I'd recommend couple albums for start.

Unfortunately, its not on YouTube, but this track is a monster - with that deep feeling of Moodymann and some tribal elements.

Taster's Choice - Instant Coco

The Collected Sounds Of Prescription - Sample Volume 001

EDIT: Well well. YouTube does have some Prescription after all. This shit came out before that Moodymann track!

Played the shit out of this last year, taking a break from it, but yeah it's huge.

thanks for the tips magnetonium, some great stuff there

this moodymann track just really comes alive on a big system, words don't really do it justice to be honest

Yeah Damian played it @ Avalon mainroom here last year and it was like...WOW

It's so driving and the vocal is awesome.

gonna do...gonna do...gonna do...

"New York, just like I pictured!"

yeah that sample is from "Living For the City" by Stevie Wonder. Its actually a pretty crazy skit if you listen to it the whole way through. A black man arrives in 1960s Harlem, naively scores some drugs for a crackhead who offers him $5 to "go across the street real quick," which gets locked him up. He's then sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sample ends with the prison guards taunting the poor guy. Thats pretty powerful and forward thinking stuff for 1960s recording, I love how Moodymann works in samples with such a message.

give me stuff like that over an Obama speech any day, I think that fad is pretty overdone at this point

Posted by Clovis on Jun-23-2009 02:09:

The thing with Obama speeches is that Obama's voice is just boring.

he does have a boring voice, but goddamn is he one poetic mofo.
