Dennis Waakop Reijers and Hans-Willem Mallon (Tiesto's Engineers)

Let's start the discussion all over again. I heard rumors (pretty sure that they are 98% true) that those two guys and other from Black Hole/Magik (such as Cor Fijneman, Montana, Geert Huinink and more) are very involved with DJ Tiesto's productions in 1998-2005. It is actually the period when Tijs made himself a superstar DJ. But I guess those productions are not from him, actually Waakop and Mallon did them. Why they are not included in credits?
Anyway seems like Tiesto is nothing more than a trademark, who didn't even produce 100% on his own..

Sigh.
Can't we talk about Deadmau5 instead?!

Posted by oldblue1224 on Jun-22-2009 13:27:

they are credited, just check discogs

I often do wonder how you can do a world tour and produce at the same time. But these guys arnt being forced at gunpoint by tiesto to make and produce these tunes with him.
And a point that has been brought up many times before is that it happens all over the music spectrum.
Some of the best selling artists the world over never put a pen to paper and just sung something that was shoved in front of them.

Tiesto ft Dennis Waakop Reijers, Hans-Willem Mallon

mmm dosent have the same ring to it does it.

Can we not have this discussion all over again? Almost every major DJ who produces does it:

Sasha has used Tom Frederikse, Richard Dekkard, Charlie May et al.
Diggers uses Nick Muir.
Oakenfold has used Steve Osbourne and Andy Gray.
Goldie has used Rob Playford.
Sven Vath has used more people than I can be bothered to look up right now.

These people are good producers and engineers who don't have much profile. By working with big-name DJs their music gets far more exposure than it would otherwise, they get their credits and so they also make far more money than they otherwise would. And, as Rob Playford has said, they also get ideas they may never have thought of themselves.

Unless you're the kind of clown who believes it's important that Tiesto writes and produces all his own shit then there is nothing controversial about it.

So actually the bashing is not against a few DJ's, but against let's say three times as many people who all seem to make crap.....

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jun-22-2009 19:53:

Do you people never read any of the liner notes of the records?

Of course not, if I want to read I buy a book....

Seriously, I have many Trance compilations, just too many names to remember them all. Remembering all these groups already is difficult enough.

E.g. The M. Experience 3 = Bart Grinaert, Marc Van Campenhout and Lajos Meszaros

Defcon 1 E.P. = Bart Grinaert, Lajos Meszaros and Danny Casseau

think of it as a band. guys like Tiesto and PvD are the frontmen and get the attention while the other band members (co-producers) are equal contributors but see less of the spotlight (or in this case close to none). ehh thats as close of an analogy as I could come up with

you must have been bored to start this thread

Posted by nefardec on Jun-22-2009 22:42:

ummm tiesto does write some of his own tracks

afaik he did this lol, maybe he had a producer then too

this only became a problem when Hans Mallon threatened legal action in '05.
obviously he considered to be a bigger part in Tiesto's productions than he was given credit for.

as far as i know, this was resolved in Tiesto's favour in 2006... when you'll notice that Waakop Reijers starts to get credited (as part of the result of the above legal action).

Hans Mallon, being the losing party, jumped on msg boards to scandal Tiesto's name, which is the reason why this was discussed already in 2007/08.

wait i thought tiesto wrote traffic all by himself?

Really , is this true?

So your asked to help make some tunes , you make them and get your wage.
Then you want more credit than you deserve?

why didnt he go solo then the thick fuck.

Tiesto still wrote Allure - Rejected by himself back in 1998, so for that he is capable in my book!

Yeah but not that one. Tiesto - Nyana and Roze - Our Love is purely Tiesto too.
