University Course Selections
Ok... I have finished choosing my courses for the fall semester, but it has been a friggen nightmare. I couldn't get anything to work right (time-wise) and now I have 5 classes on Wednesday and 1 on Thursday!
Trust me, I swapped out classes, changed hours, even considered taking a Saturday class
(didn't take it).
I am wondering what kind of tricks/tips you have for doing up your class scheduling. How do you get it all to work out?
*sigh*
Pro Tip: don't schedule 5 classes on the same day

There's not much you do can do, then. Just take the classes.
Also, go make me some iced tea. I'm getting thirsty.

It's a combination of things. When I was an undergrad, I hated mornings more than a vampire did, so the most important thing for me was afternoon and night classes. Then came the other factors - required classes, electives, professors' reputations, and so on.
If classes began to conflict, I enrolled in the most important ones then and took the other ones at some later point. That being said, five classes in one day is stupid, but it's not impossible.

im a horrible example but i just scheduled them whenever since i didnt go to most of them anyways. i would instead procrastinate and cram for assignments and exams. served me well!

I am just picking 2 classes I need (English and Math) and a fun class to get in the swing of things. And to brush up on my German for future plans.
The following semester I will take on a heavier course load. 4 or 5 classes if I can.
My best semester was when I had all my classes on Tuesday and Thursday. 4 day weekend every week.

Become friends with an upperclassmen who can hold classes for you because they get to schedule first. That's how they did it at my school, the more credits u had the earlier u scheduled. So have them pick up a class or 2 in the time slot you want, then when it's ur turn to schedule have them drop the class and u pick it up right away.
Why is having 5 classes in the one day bad?
I would kill to have had that this semester. I had to keep going back and forth between university and the office because I had my classes spread out over the week. As far as I know, with most people here the thinking is the same; better to have one big block of learning than to waste travel time coming in for only one or two hours every day.
exactly. much easier to make it to class if you dont have massive gaps in your schedule.

if you have classes on Fridays then you are scheduling wrong.

Well very true there is a line between social integration and hermitage - I've actually opted for hermitage with the house purchase. Regardless of what you think studying magic and hypnosis and other things actually teaches you a lot about other fields since magic was a root to a lot of cultural traditions religion and sciences. I'd say atleast 70% of my education so far has been about history of religious and political history. With language and music lumped in there a bit. They do offer courses on the occult/magic and the occult in University. Likewise some places offer parapsychology and paranormal sciences. |
I usually aim for late afternoon/evening classes because I like to sleep late (I naturally wake up around 2ish). My classes were:
Monday: 2:45-4
Tuesday: 6:15-7:15
Wednesday: 2:45-4
Thursday: 2:45-5:30, 6:15-7:15, 7:30-10.
