-- My time is at hand.

My time is at hand.

A new chapter in my life starts tomorrow.

As most of you know i joined the Marine Corps back in 2004 and after five years I'll be getting out and driving home for good. It's pretty surreal. I'm not even sure what to do with myself. It kind of feels like i haven't done anything with my life. I look at all my friends back home and they're all married have kids and degrees. It's like I'm just graduating high school or some shit. I think I'm going to go hang out at my old high school. I get older and they stay the same age haha!

Shit just got real. I'm so excited to pop this Oxycontin and smoke it up with my dad, go camping, and grow a beard without the Marine Corps up my ass.

I'd just like to say thanks to all you for keeping me entertained the past five years and hopefully more to come!

Fuck I'm about to be unemployed haha!

just re-up!

just think, you'll be preventing some more than likely poor minority person from making the same mistake you did!

Posted by Chris Crossland on Jun-23-2009 15:17:

I'm sure that poor minority person is going to join anyway i just won't be there to yell at him. lol

I wouldn't mind reenlisting but i realllllly don't wanna stay in.

fuck man and I wanted to get some beers with ya before you left.

Posted by on Jun-23-2009 19:33:

about time you left that shit branch.

every marine i met has an inferiority complex. must be because they are glorified meat shields.

should have joined a cooler branch like the coast guard.

Posted by gehzumteufel on Jun-23-2009 19:37:

lol and I live next to the base he is at, so that is definitely true.

Ive met a couple marines that were cool, both worked in technical fields though...

*edit*

Also living next to an army base, the largest on the west coast... I can safely say that I'd take a marine base over that any day... Army nuts are wacked out... bunch of drugged up 18 and 19 year olds with guns and that blew their enlistment bonuses on fast cars that they dont know how to drive.

Posted by on Jun-23-2009 19:42:

there are few marines here on post and they have the balls to call us "hooahs" when they are the nerdiest fucking fags in the military playing with joysticks flying UAV's.

fuck, the airforce here does morse code and they have fucking hot ass chicks who hate the guys in the airforce because all they do is play halo. I had one of them. Her name is irrelevant.

Yea we also have a big Air Force base right next to us too... The airforce people arent that bad. The base is a bunch of C-17 cargo pilots, not the most liveliest group in the airforce (though the ones that work the most).

The army brats though. Lakewood sits one side the freeway and Ft Lewis's main entrance is on the other about 2 miles down, so if you are heading south out of Tacoma in the morning you hit Lakewood area and you get a million numbnuts driving every overly priced gawdy car or big ass truck you can imagine crossing 5 lanes of traffic to 2 miles to the base exit, and then crossing back 5 lanes to get off!

STAY THE FUCK ON THE RIGHT AND JUST DEAL WITH IT!

idiots.

lol... man, there is a subcontractor that works for me sometimes who used to be in the Marines. He's only 34... I guess he was in the Marines from 1992-1998, so he's been out for over 10 years. He had some crazy nostalgic longing for those days this past year and tried to re-enlist in hopes of going back into the shit overseas... even though he's married now and has 2 young daughters. I was like, "Steve, why do you want to do that now man? Those days are over.. you have a family now." He said it was something I had to be a Marine to understand, and I get that but whatever.

I feel kinda sorry for him... he is really a nice guy and would do anything for me without question. But he can't shake that meat-head mentality. Get a few drinks in him and he's acting like he's some 18 year old grunt. It's embarassing and I have to make up excuses not to go out with him because inevitably a scene from Full Metal Jacket will unfold sooner or later. God, last time I was out with him (over a year ago) he ran into some younger Marines dressed in their uniforms and started ordering them around and shit like he was their superior... they were trying to be respectful but I could tell they were thinking, "Get away you washed up has-been... let it go; you're not in the Marines anymore."

Your time really will be at hand if you keep doing oxys... the hell are you thinking?

Posted by Chris Crossland on Jun-23-2009 21:17:

Haha i defiantly do not have an inferiority complex. I did when i got right out of boot camp but reality hits you hard unless you were a grunt. The air wing and ground side don't get along at all. We have different mentalities. I'm pretty much a civilian playing Marine.

You have to realize The17sss that when he was in the Corps that shit was a lot worse than it is now. His head is probably fucked lol. It is something else being a Marine that's for sure but I'm too logical to stay in.

Like everything eles...

You'd just have to be a Marine to understand it.

But don't do it!

You don't need to understand it, it's fucking pointless.

I was prescribed them a year ago from when i broke my elbow. I enjoyed them thoroughly and my buddy just fucked up his knee and gave me some for the 3000 mile drive home.

Haha... yeah man I try to steer him away from combat related discussions becuase I'm afraid he might get unhinged. I made the mistake of asking him about it a long time ago and he got into something about being in North Africa and his group were fired on and had to return fire.... said some people got killed and he wasn't sure if he was responsible or not. Then he said something about seeing wild dogs chowing down on a dead body... and proceeded to start crying into his pint of beer at Hooters. It was time to go. Since then, no discussions. lol
