The NBA 2008-2009 offseason thread

Richard Jefferson just got traded to the Spurs for Kurt Thomas, Bruce Bowen, and Fabrico Oberto.

Big addition for the Spurs.

very big addition for the spurs, as it gives them a solid 3rd/4th option.

Unfortunately, the Bucks didn't get the memo the Spurs are heavily shopping Ginobli around to see if they can get something valuable in return.

FUCK YOU TIMBERWOLVES.

Foye was the only bright spot in the franchise after Al Jefferson.

A deal is close to closing that has the Timberwolves sending Mike Miller and Randy Foye to the Washington Wizards for the No. 5 selection in Thursday's draft, Oleksiy Pecherov, Darius Songaila, and Etan Thomas.

So now we have the 5th and 6th draft picks at least, but knowing the Timberwolves we'll get the guys the prove this draft is as weak as they say it is. Rubio and Thabeet? Hmmph, doubtful.

Shaq Diesel to Cleveland. It will be official later today.

He played well last season, too.

this may be a good trade, but also a bad trade. shaq will play his "maximum" 60 games next year, and the cavs didn't lose anyone to hurt their chemistry. Wallace and Pavlovic lost their minutes. Now the Cavs have Ilgauskas (34) and Oneal(38) to fill the middle of the paint. is this what the cavs really want? they really need a power forward who can eat up the boards and paint, not another center. Also zeke and oneal are fragile now. I don't know what to say about this trade until the cavs make about 1-2 more moves. maybe start asking for takers for wally z, joe smith, or daniel gibson.

hmm ok.

Now orlando-new jersey has a deal going where vince carter goes to the magic for alston and courtney lee. I don't know what to make of this trade yet, because orlando could possibly be still pursuing turkgolu to come back (probably won't anyways), while as for new jersey's case, great trade, because this trade is meant for the future. a lee-harris-lopez combination is not bad at all. i think lee can thrive in lawrence frank's system.

//edit

seems ryan anderson is part of the deal along with carter. i have changed my mind. an excellent trade for orlando and new jersey. i have questions about carter's motivations and how he will hurt team chemistry. then again, if artest was fine in houston, maybe carter will be a good boy in orlando, and won't be a chemistry buster. i like ryan anderson's energy, and is another big guy who can shoot the 3. he can give orlando a good 15-20 minutes a game, maybe 25.

shaq is the biggest joke since......

actually, i dont think there has ever been a bigger joke than this douchebag.

The Timberwolves drafted three PGs in the first round... wtf.

Vince Carter was a decent addition for the Magic. Turkeyman is also out of Orlando, so it kind of evens itself out.

Spurs made a great trade actually. I'm not sure if they will let Ginobliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii go.

when the bulls were making a comeback!!

Artest to the Lakers. Damn. Rockets are game ova. Mcgrady is a great all-star but thats what he will always be to the NBA. At least grant hill you got a full season at one point.

Artest and Ariza swapped teams. Interesting move by the Lakers.

Turk to the Blazers. Blazers are looking nice.

David Lee reported coming close to going with Toronto. While Odom, Wallace, Iverson, Gortat, and a few more agents are still in the air. This is one hell of a offseason!

Posted by Renzo on Jul-06-2009 18:38:

Now Turk changes his mind and is going to the Raptors.

What a dumb move

now wait a minute here. I think what KP is doing is a smart thing to do. yeah he does need to extend Roy's contract, but he's looking at the present right now, and they need some muscle(Milsap) and a reliable poing guard(hinrich). he knows that in order for portland to compete with the big wigs in the west (lakers, spurs, nuggets), he needs to build some help around roy. well this is the help right here. hopefully it pays off.

A bench PF needs to earn 3 mil' like Frye is earning and not 9 mil' per season, the PG position should be a top priority for us and not the PF spot which is already maintained strong by LaMarcus.

Hinrich is not the difenition of 'reliable', he played only 51 games last season and there's a reason why the Bulls picked Rose to be their PG, is Hinrich really so much better than Blake or Bayless that we need to absorb his massive contract? i dont think so.

I think we should stop this little girl bullshit and bring a star next to Roy, "deep" teams never go far in this league.

I hope that KP is collecting assets to trade for a good 2010 free agent\expiring contract and a top10 draft pick - thats the most reasonable thing to do right now.
