Took a listen, found it rather uninspired. Nothing that sets it apart from about a million other trance DJs with similar tracks.

Can you give any suggestions as to what *YOU* think makes a mix "inspired", and seperates it from any other? Aside from maybe using an assortment of tracks that no one else has.

Yeah. I took a listen too, and I honestly thought that it wasn't anything spectacular...
Don't take it to heart though. This is better than people saying it's great when it isn't(example...)
What helps me greatly is just to think about the WHOLE mix before you start recording a demo set...think about what it's aimed towards...what direction the mix is going...
Second, developing a sense for the sound of trance helps alot too...unfortunatly, not alot of people can get this right away...the talented producers and upcoming DJs on this board know what I'm talking about...I still have yet to refine mine, but what I'm talking about is how the song is set...key, color, shape, etc...rather than selecting songs on personal basis, find songs that 'feel' right when going together.
Develop a 'theme' for your mix...without a purpose, like anything else, your mix will go nowhere. I can't tell you how many mixes I've trashed and stopped recording because the track selection was based on....well, nothing.
Good luck. Mix another one, and lets see what you can REALLY do!

Thanks for the feedback. In my opinion all of these tracks work really well together, and when I set out to make this mix I wanted to pick records for that particular purpose instead of throwing together "Anthem Mix #94382984932". Can't please everyone =)

Lol..good point. Can't please everybody.
Even though the tracks might go together, you gotta focus on the mix as a whole...balance it out by not shoving anthems here and there...make sure the mix flows well, above any thing else...if it doesn't progress smoothly(whether it be hard house baniging at 144 bpm or slow silky smooth prog running at 135)then no matter how good the tracks fit, the mix will sound forced and hurried...the mix loses it's balance and integrity.
Remember, space your songs out so that they lead into each other. That mix is good, but it's kinda uncomfortable to listen to...
