So not true.

There's a shooting in my neighbourhood (Delancey & Columbia) every weekend during the summer, somebody always gets killed. Somebody always gets shot on New Years' too. Matter of fact, I heard a few shots an hour ago. And at least there's a couple of dead people every time there's a Blood/Crip/Latin King/Baruch Bad Boy initiation.

edit: I forgot to say there's always people being thrown down from the roof of my building, too. Maybe reporting these homicides are not good for Manhattan's image?

People regularly get thrown to their death from your apt roof?

About once a year. It's not too often, but it still happens. I would estimate there's about 8 murders a year in my 'hood in the very least.

During the summer, we wait at home on Friday night watching TV until we hear shots around 11.30 or midnight. That's when we know it's safe to go out, because the cops arrive by the time we make it to the building lobby, lol.

I see my old neighborhood in the bronx is not that bad, but where my family store is in the south bronx, I am not suprised to see so many blue dots, lol.

When the chinese store owner is behind 3 feet of bullet proof glass, and you don't even see the guy. Also the food is put a rotating device, you definietly know your in the hood. Also the guy has hole in the bottom of the counter for his shotgun.

I remember having to go there around 2am, and wait for a truck delievery. These people though we were cops on a stakeout, so they abandoned all the drug deals on that street, lol.

But I am afraid to say the south bronx is like the hamptons compared to north philly.

I guess the afterparty is never gonna be in Claudia's crib!

I wanna see an annexed map that shows Jersey!

when looking at the map realize that the default shows all 3400+ murders since 2003. When you change the year option (above the map), it doesn't look so bad; even harlem, the south bronx, east new york, and bed-stuy don't look so bad when viewing just one year.

LOL.

Am unemployed and so is my husband, so now I'm stuck in this shithole... It's nice being so close to everything, but the actual apartments are shit, as is my living situation. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be in Bed-Stuy or Bushwick, prices are getting ridiculously cheap.

Today I had to counsel two MOM's, trying to convince them not to bring "pieces" into graduation today. (??)

Apparently there is beef between their two kids and the mom's feel like they have had enough, and need to get involved. WHY is it my job to counsel these assholes?? I dont get paid enough for this. F*cking bronx. Yes, lets ruin ALL the kids graduation day because of your stupidity. lovely.

PS: I love my job.

At my in-law's apartment in Baruch Houses, Columbia & Delancey. Not the best situation, but at least we have someplace while we're broke.
We're starting some fine dining training soon, so hopefully we'll be getting a relatively good job in the near future.

When we get an apartment, afterparty at my place!
