Mag's 1990s Canadian Eurodance Mix #2 (Dec 1, 2009)

My previous mixes:
Previous mixes in my series, "What is electronic music?":
Canadian House 1989-1994, Vol. 1
Underground Disco Mix '79
Ambient Trance Compilation '90s
1990s Canadian Eurodance Mix
New Jersey House Sound (1991-1996) GARAGE/DEEP
Oldskool Trance Mix, Vol. 1 (1990-1996) acid / acid trance influences

This is the FIRST mix of its kind on this forum. Canadian Eurodance. I've re-recorded the mix, with big tracklisting changes - I changed up the order completely, added and removed some tracks. Mixing is also MUCH BETTER in this mix.

All my eurodance favourites are in this mix. Well, all these tracks were released in Canada, but one of them was initially released in Europe - oh well. But all of these, without exception, were massive eurodance hits here in Canada in the golden 1994-1999 era.

The mix is dedicated to Energy 108 - now a defunct radio station in southern Ontario which in 1990s pumped out loads of great dance music. I will always miss it.

As one can imagine, there's a heavy dosage of Numuzik Label tracks on here

Here it is!

Damn, how could I miss this?!

And although "Canadian Eurodance" sounds like something weird I'd love to see a re-up.

!!!

I had a monumental hard drive crash on my laptop this past summer, which I recently fixed. Lost all my playlists and settings - including upcoming mixes, and took me a while to get my music back from my DVD-R and backups, software installations, settings.

But I got 2 DJ gigs this weekend, so perhaps next week I will re-record this mix, with slight tracklisting changes!

I dont even have the original version of this mix that I did, lost.

I've been so busy, school work and activities, but I'll make this mix, I promise.

Stay tuned for my next post! Plus, stay tuned for more mixes in my electronic music series ...

Sorry sorry sorry for the big delay ... mix is ready! Click to download. Let me know how it went, with regards to tracklisting, mixing, tunes selection, quality of sound.

Feedback is always read and appreciated.

I am hoping to add another mix before the New Year's for this forum

Thanks a lot! Great work, dude. I didn't know many of the tracks, but it seems like they could make nice Eurodance in other parts of the world, too.

Never heard of that Canada place though, where about in the UK is it?

Were you aware that First Base is not Canadian but German?

Yeah, I knew that, but First Base was more popular here in Canada than anywhere else. We sort of Canadianized the monicker. Well, their one and only full-length album is totally Canadian! Check it out for yourself. Has a couple of EXCLUSIVE tracks. Released in Canada only!

Heheh! Wait 'till I make an italodance mix ... you're gonna love that one, too ... I think you'll like it more I gotta admit, I kinda dig italodance more than Canadian eurodance nowadays

Somewhere near Kent?

Thanks for all the feedback. Y'all gotta admit that Numuzik is teh best Canadian euro label.

Posted by DJ Double Threat on Dec-09-2009 18:01:

Yeah your right about Canadians loving First Base. In fact Canada may have been their best selling spot. They were more popular there then in their home country of Germany... Odd huh???

Can You Keep a Secret is a club bomb in Toronto...

Can't wait for that!
Oh, and what I noted is how the track in here mostly lack the typical Euro Rap parts. Wasn't that popular in Canada?

i liked it, trackselection was nice and mixing was smooth for this. there was some moments of synth on synth overload but i know from personal experience that it's inevitable. my other complaint is that if you are going to play eurodance like this why didn't you use full advantage of the instrumental middle eights. you used them a couple of times but for instance the mix out of don't ever leave would have sounded smoother if you mixed natalie page in from the middle eight right before that last hook. but other than that it was nice. good stuff

you may be a crazy commie, but you made a good set. throughly enjoyed it

Thats a very helpful and productive feedback. I guess you are also saying that I should have a shorter loop to mix into the next track. Now that I listened to the whole thing myself, I think I understand what you mean. Thanks!

LOL ... I hate communism! Look at my profile - CANADIAN flag ... hence CANADIAN eurodance.

I am just passionate about politics. Glad you liked the mix.
