ARGH!!! I suck so much!
Alright, heres my problem. I keep thinking up awesome songs in my head, but I can't ever seem to produce the sound im thinking of. I can't ever turn the knobs right or press the right button to make the right sound, and I can't ever seem to get anything right that I'm trying to make and it just sounds like crap every time. It frustrates me so much. I think my problem is that I dont know anything, I need a book or webpage or something, that jsut explains, how to turn all the knobs and buttons to get the sound I want, hell, I dont even know what the notes are, I need something to help me learn the basic basic crap too. I dunno, I'm doing everythin gtrial and error now, I would like to know what I'm doing, if anybody else out there has gone through this before, how about replying with what you did?
music production isn't easy. it involves a lot hard work and time. so what exactly do u wanna learn about?? sound design. compression?mixing..eqing?music theory? etc.....
to translate whats in your head to your speakers...that IS the whole art of producing in a nutshell. Don't expect to be able to do that by reading a book.
I really don't have a clue, what I'm really looking for is something really basic. I guess Im looking for synth programming stuff too. I'm not really sure what everythings called.

firstly.. I suggest when u think up a melody or something,, think of it as simple as possible to start. like individual notes. lets say one note every beat. then just go to ur program, and use trial and error on the keyboard by clicking one note at a time, to get down what u hear in ur head.
lets have an example. rank1 - airwave and rank1 - airwave (dutch force mix)
try doing note by note, like the original version of airwave.. nice and simple.
if u are trying to get down complex sounds like in the dutch force mix, its gonna be pretty hard when your starting out, considering it was done using an arpegiator.
once you have the simple melody done, just keep scrolling through preset synth sounds untill u get something that is around what u want. then u can start tweaking knobs until it sounds right
hmmm... just out of curioisity, does Airwave go:
F - E - F - G - D - E - F - F - G - F - G - A - Hi C - G - F - E
??
no pretty close though
F-E-F-G-C-E-F-E-F-E-F-G-A-C-G-D-E
unWorldly, how long have you been producing for? I mean, if you just started, or began a few months ago, don't expect to be awesome at the first shot. Producing is one hell of a headache man! I mean, I've been producing my own Trance songs, and it ain't as easy as it sounds. You would think, "All I need to do is put a nice cute melody, twist this knob, Wallah! A Instant hit!" Unfortunately, no. It's a little bit more science, and theory that you think.
Bro, try listening to more, and more music, so it can clear your mind a little. Be a little more confident, and DO NOT BE AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT! If you think the songs you are making are horrible, DO NOT DELETE THEM! Just save em, and rework on them when you are more experienced. I mean, you may make some wicked ass melody, yet, you can't compliment it to a beat just cuz your not so 'experienced, or talented yet'. Just time patience, and waiting. Besides what's the rush? It's not like some Record label is riding your ass trying to get songs out of you on some due date.
Practice, live learn.

Practice makes perfect and .. for me, my classical piano lessons that I followed over 6 years help me A LOT.
well, ive been attempting off and on for aout a year and a half, I keep working at it, then taking long breaks because I get myself frustrated. I havent had too much experiance because I cant figure out where to start really.
