Haziel - Shangó [Summer Tech/House Mix]

For the longest time ever I have been lazy on putting out a mix worth sharing , finally got inspired last week and mixed this together all in one shot .

The main idea was to do a Tribal mix but with an updated sound so I finally came across with tons of great tunes that are combined with drums from many different parts of the world. The majority of the tunes are a combination of African - Caribbean beats with a Tech House groove which I'm really diggin At the moment. Overall I tried adding a summer feeling to it with a different style of mixing than from what I normally do .

I gotta to say a lot on influence from some Ta's on this mix

Hope you guys Enjoy it

Peace

Sorry dude, I've been a little slow in listening to TA mixes this past week even though I grabbed a lot of them. Next week though I should be getting through quite a few of them, and yours will definitely be part of that group

Will leave comments afterwards

So contrary to what I stated earlier I actually decided to press play on this one today. Started listening while walking the dog and now just finishing it off at home. This is a really good set, man. I think it's the first time I've heard one from you but I'm quite impressed. Mixing and flow are both top notch, and while you used a few songs that are not too recent, the overall track selection was really just great. I never realized how nice version 2 of D.P.O.M.B. was, I only ever got the other one. Also, the layering of the tracks was a particular highlight for me.

Anyway this one's been lots of fun. My favorite tracks in there are the first and the ones with the speaking (where yo got the name, Shango from - what does that word mean anyway?).

Good stuff mate, try to post sets a little more often I'll definitely check them out.

Thank you so much Adam for your review, it really means a lot to me specially because like I said there is a lot of influence from some ta's like you and Jay on this mix .

I've being so much into Dixon since the beginning of 2009 def. one of my fav. producers/ djs , that i had to include some of his productions on a mix , that Dpomb ep was the starting point for this set, both tracks are great but that version 2 was what i was looking at when i started this

Shango is mentioned on the track "crushed" and is an "african indigenous deity' very much worshiped in Latin caribean countries. I just thought it sounded cool for a mix of this type

Again thanks for listening and taking your time to write a review

Cheers

Listening right now, 55 minutes in and I've enjoyed it a lot so far. One thing I can note is that the programming has been on spot.

Glad you are liking it so far oscar , to tell you the truth I was having seconds thoughts on some of the tracks because I was feeling that I was taking big left turns on some of them , but then again I guess I didn't

Posted by woscar on Jul-16-2009 15:23:

Yeah, not at all. After listening to the whole set, my statement still stands. The programming is pretty much on spot.

However (and this is just something that I would have done), I would have used 'Jauce' a bit later in the set because I feel it's more like a peak-time or near peak-time track

Overall, well done getting tracks that go that well with one another. There's plenty of 'conga-house' and most of it is annoying as fuck but you chose from the good pile.

Had a listen to this yesterday at work.
Tight stuff man, like others have said the flow and mixing was clean and seamless but for me it was a bit of overkill with the african/south american sounding tracks.
I realise that was your intentions with this mix and I don't think it's a bad mix in any sense, just my own taste differences. I kinda prefer just hearing one or two of those types of tracks within a mix.
I'll def. check out some more of your sets in future though.

Yeah I understand what you mean , the reason I put "Jauce" as a 3rd track was that I felt it was time for the mix to get going and also the intensity of this track is much less to what I had in mind of what was comming later on .

On a regular basis my mixes are deep , I just wanted to do something different from what I normally do .

Glad you liked it buddy

Thanks for your feedback ,the overkill you are talking about I can agree on it on the last 2 tracks sometimes when I listen to it I do tend to think I over did it , but then other days I thinks is fine , I guess it depends on what mood I'm in .

Pretty much the idea of the mix was to do a percussion mix but with enough variation within the tracks to keep it interesting ,there is even one prog tribal track ( el amor ) which takes the mix on a different direction.

Anyhow thanks for listening and yeah now that I'm almost done with school I will def. work on getting more mixes out .
