After another listen, I feel like I had some shaky transitions in the early tracks, but I hammered everything pretty hard past Natural Vibes. Hope everyone enjoys, my heart was racing really hard during this set, I wish it was perfect, but nobody is perfect

On it of course!

Just took a listen:

Funny intro, this laugh was very amusing!

First track was blasting but then, the second track just kills all of the things the first one did. I definitely agree with you that the first transitions were not good but then you pick up and they became much better.

At 56 min a flow mistake. The mixing was good but the track (which was very nice) just doesn't fit there imo. One of the few weak moments here.

A huge plus in my books is that the set is much more varied in terms of fullon tracks, not only straight on fast bassline and effects but also some nice melodies here and there. The last tracks of the set were definitely my favorite.

All in all, nice job, probably among your good ones (if not the best set you've done so far)!

I think the track at 56 minutes is Darkness or My Kind of Music. These are good tracks in my opinion, but perhaps could have been placed better. I agree I still had some spotty mixing in the back half of the set, but nothing too jarring.

As far as track selection, I think this is my best full-on set by far, but my mixing still needs work This set was particularly hard to mix, simply because of the pure energy that was literally surging through my body during the set. I got butterflies, was nervous at some points, and felt like my heart would blow up (hehe ).

It will probably be a little while before I spin another true full-on set, as most full-on these days bore me to death. This was one of the last bastions of serious full-on tracks (not some new Save the Robot garbage ) that I could put into a set. I listened to hundreds of tracks to whittle down a proper set, and this is what I came up with. I'm fairly pleased with the result, so I'm even more glad that you are too.

Thanks for the listen! My next two sets will be Trance (old school, followed by amateurs), and in September, Taijitu's Revenge

Anyone else out there care to venture a listen?

Thumbs up

i listened to this mix while gaming online

the intro had me rofling... i loved it

and wooooot! i love the astrix remix of the mescaline track by 1200 mics. one of my favorite classics.. the transitions from track by track were very well done, as well as the overall flow of the set was great

i score this mix a 9/10

Seems like a lot of people like this intro. I never even thought of using it until I discovered that first track, Rasta Man.

I love that track, it's got such a catchy riff in the beginning of the track, but I feel like it's a tad overdone with all the guitar in it. Still a great tune. Thanks for the review, Altered-Mind, I hope it made you dance!

Hey Ziptnf,

I started a thread few days ago titled "Newcomer to psytrance, sort of" and you were kind enough to recommend some mixes along w/ your own. I dl all your mixes you linked to in your sig and gotta say man, I loved them all. Whatever it is you spin, i'm slurpin it cuz its great. Keep it up and looking forward (and expecting)to hearin more from you.

Especially diggin the more full on stuff. Some people on these boards I've seen say that type is more susceptible to being cheesy, not having really followed psytrance I am not sure how the classifications go but love the full on i'm hearing from you and the sets I have from guy salama. Odd since I've kinda stopped listenin to trance produced after '05 but am now jumpin aboard the psytrance train.

Wow! Great to hear, man, I'm really happy you enjoy my mixes! I'm going to create an archive thread of all my mixes in a few weeks, you should check out some of my older stuff too, like my January set "Warped Reality". I consider Warped Reality and this set, Frequency Surge, to be the epitome of peak-time full-on psytrance, trying to find music that doesn't bore the listener, or annoy him at the same time. It's a very healthy, but volatile state of mind that very few full-on tracks can maintain. I try to look for active energy, melodic tracks (but too happy = too cheesy), with minimalistic riffs and sounds, and generally something that I haven't heard before. Sometimes that's difficult to find, but I find it nonetheless!

I'm really glad to hear that, what sets of mine have you listened to so far? Which ones did you like the best? What did you think of THIS one? I'm just asking these questions so I can find out what a newcomer like you can dig in a psytrance set. Thanks for the listen, man, look forward to TONS more music from me this year!!

the sets i have of yours are color flux, yang and yin, and frequency surge. I dl but deleted dynamic reflex since it didnt appeal to me as much as the other ones. Regarding which one I like the best, i have to listen to yang and yin more since I like the mindset of that mix, with the two halves, kinda how I arrange my tracklists with shifts in mood. Frequency surge is prob the fav for now.

Bump.

Come on, kids. Domesticated, kr00t0n, J? No thoughts?

Posted by kr00t0n on Jul-14-2009 09:46:

Just listened to it this morning (you impatient fool )

The loud laugh in the opening was a bit annoying, but the first track was awesome!

Really nice banging mix, though I'm not a fan of Mescaline, and the transitions were fine, if sometimes short, with only the mix in to Hemisphere being a bit muddled.

Really enjoyed the bang bang of this dude, one of my fav mixes from you

Yeah, well if I'm an impatient fool, you are a lazy bastard

There was more of the loud laugh, but I cut it out of the opening to get straight to the music. You gotta love the Rasta tour guide at Bob Marleys' mansion, kr00t0n, have you no respect for Bob Pillow and the spliff?

Yeah, I had a few dodgy transitions in this one, but I thought it banged pretty hard nonetheless. Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you liked it! I know that the mega-intense full-on isn't always up your alley, but I'm glad this one was!

I honestly haven't had a chance to have a full listen yet... I've been busy working on a new set of my own, as well as preparing for a Psy Festival this week, which I leave for tomorrow... I'll burn your mix for the drive up there.

Hey man, sounds perfect! Where is the festival? Sounds really fun, let me know how the festival goes and what you thought of the trippy drive up there!
