Seriously though, why do we discuss music? in order to make better?

Yeah, it's called digging deeper and deeper and it has taken me to the point of frustration, since it's slowly becoming more important than the music itself.

I find that over time most people's tastes tend to broaden in terms of genre, so in that sense they become less "picky."

But they also seem to become pickier within the individual genres they've been listening to the longest. When you start out with a certain sound or style, it's easy to be wowed by anything you come across, but you eventually find it harder to be impressed because it seems like you've heard it all before.

its even worse for the people that produce music

Agreed, the more you know the more you have to compare it against. When you first enter the EDM world it's more like a novelty because everything is new and sounds great until you become to know the sound you are looking for and begin to discern quality from shit. Overtime I also beleive that you also develop somewhat of a trained ear to hear things in EDM that other's normally would not notice.
