For the star gazers...

I found an interesting site....

www.spaceweather.com/flybys

The ISS is supposed to be very visible tonight except for the damn overcast sky...

But they say it'll also be out every night this week and into the weekend so mark the time and look up....

The Perseids are always a treat in August each year. They'll come best on the 11th, radiating from just left of Cassiopeia's "W". You'll have to catch them before the moon rises though this year.

Yup same here (although my bday is the 12th)
I remember my 19th birthday I went to a friends cottage and we sat out on the dock watching the meteors.

It's a magical time of the year

People in the burbs had no issues. It was fine in Aurora, and I have Newmarket to the north, and TO to the south.

In half an hour, I saw at least a dozen, with two notably bright.

Interesting story...

I was in Dallas, Texas a while ago and I saw a meteorite hit the top of a rock wall...

It must have been tiny by the time it reached earth but it was a definate streak from the sky and when it hit the wall, it exploded into a shower of sparks...

Kinda looked like when a piece of molten metal falls from a welder and hits the ground, just much faster...

I was at the humber park right on park lawn and lakeshore and I saw plenty of them last night. Probably about 10-15 an hour. One shot across the whole sky you can see the trail of light like no other. Thought for the peak of the event I will probably go up north or to Port Hope to check it out.

The annual Leonids meteor shower is in November.

Last night's Perseids was even better than Tuesday night's peak as far as visibility and frequency where I was.
