Bomfunk mc's - Freestyler "appreciation thread"

Fantastic!

I fucking loved this back in highschool, lol. Even used to brag about how I found out this track earlier than my friends.

i still love this track, it's one of the poppiest slices of drum & bass to have ever hit the market and it just works. it does get annoying after a while though

Posted by adi_hanson on Jul-22-2009 20:13:

would you belive i ran over a kid on a bike whilst listening to this track.
Dont worry he ran off the little cunt.

Never found him but the police took his bike and i never got my damage paid for.

but what the fuck , i still drove home and listened to freestyler again.

Never was THAT big a fan of Freestyler and got tired of it long before it was introduced to the world outside Finland. Sky's The Limit was my fav back when the first album came out. Been ages since i've listened that too.

As for my fav Bomfunk MC's track, it's easily B-Boys & Fly Girls (Jori Hulkkonen Deep'n'Smooth Remix). Mellow deep house and practically nothing recognizable left from the original.

while its very unique (atleast back then) and had some cool elements in it i never really liked it. probably beacuse it lacked flow, groove, build, progression and everything else i like about edm. and it has rap. as if anyone would care what i think hahaha.

i used to love this track, i got the cd single hehe

Posted by woscar on Jul-23-2009 02:06:

I always hated this track, LOL. But then again, I've never really liked any Drum N Bass

Posted by Domesticated on Jul-23-2009 02:33:

Would you guys consider this drum and bass?

That surprises me, I have never really known what genre it is, but I wouldn't have picked that.

Meh, I still love this tune. I have the album and it's pure cheese, but a really good listen start to finish. I really enjoy chucking it on in the car when I'm in the mood for something not too serious.

the intro to this track is what pumped me up the most as a kid

Me too.

Liked the slice of the late 90s with the MD remote in the video.

poppy breaks sorta track...i still have the cd single! somewhere..

Posted by Sushipunk on Jul-23-2009 11:04:

Lol, yeah, I still like this track. I have the album, and most of it is shite, but Freestyler still hits the spot

same here. Grew tired of it just after a few listens.
the follow up however was better. Contained some nice acid riffs.

Yeah... That's not drum'n'bass.

Cool song though, takes me back to my childhood.

Posted by montana on Jul-25-2009 15:14:

freestyler is drum & bass, the same way girls aloud' sound of the underground is drum & bass, s.o.t.u. ripped off puretone - addicted to bass and freestyler rips every aphrodite record ever made. they just toned the jumpup thing down a teeny bit.

Posted by saluyamo on Jul-25-2009 16:02:

Reminds me of when I used to watch Rage and video hits.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jul-25-2009 17:44:

It's drum 'n bass, albeit slightly slower than most. I've heard it dropped in drum 'n bass sets.

Posted by Aleks_B on Jul-25-2009 19:56:

^.... i'd say it's breaks. Not nearly enough bpm to qualify as d'n'b!
