BT vs. Sasha - Remember Magnetic North

Who made this mashie? Heard it in a couple of Schulz' sets back in the day and that's all. Is it released?

Posted by montana on Jul-23-2009 08:55:

if i'm not mistaken, it's austin leeds who made the mashup.

What a great way to ruin a great song.

I always felt that this track is totally out of beat. It's a fucking disgrace.

Posted by Chimney on Jul-23-2009 11:58:

Markus Schulz made it. Unreleased and will never be.

One of BT's worst tracks mashed with one of Sasha's less interesting, and I think it sounds pretty good. How exactly is it "out of beat"?

Posted by Chimney on Jul-23-2009 13:42:

Also heard he was offered a generous sum of money for it, but declined.

Maybe he's referring to the remember lyrics fitting in with the beat. But regardless I liked it.

I don't think any of Airdrawndagger would make it into my Top 10 Sasha productions, and Magnetic North isn't even the best track on Airdrawndagger.

Posted by Clovis on Jul-23-2009 21:53:

Magnetic North was always one of my favorites for the vibe it has. The first time I listened to it I was on a plane heading to europe watching the northern lights over Canada in the middle of the night though, so that may have influenced me. That whole album is the last great music Sasha ever produced imo.

Nothing will beat the Airdrawndagger originals, but I always liked this mashup. Was probably my favorite tune of the year when it was released. When was that...'04, '05?

Posted by regulate on Jul-24-2009 00:12:

From what i remember, Markus cleaned up the Broken Toy Mashup. The guy was/is a TA here, but he never finished it.

Posted by enydo on Jul-24-2009 02:19:

I liked this mashup.

Posted by Zharen on Jul-24-2009 02:29:

Magnetic North was one of those songs where I had to drop everything I was doing and absorb every beat, note and layer until I was left stupefied when it was over. Remember I could give fuck all about.

Posted by Clovis on Jul-24-2009 03:16:

Those lyrics are atrocious.

Posted by enydo on Jul-24-2009 03:19:

Yeah, but there are faaarrr worse out there.

Posted by BshidoHEAT on Jul-24-2009 04:05:

Wasn't it also posted here by some guy a few years ago? I always liked the track.

Yeah there's always Cannibal Corpse or some happy hardcore.

But on the flip side there is also FARRRRR better...

Posted by enydo on Jul-24-2009 04:14:

Haha, yeah. I mean, I know they're shit but I still dig the mashup, I like me some horseshit cheese every now and again.

Posted by Chimney on Jul-24-2009 07:08:

Good mashup.

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Jul-24-2009 07:23:

I wouldn't say it's bad. But I wouldn't say it's good. I'd say it's a song and it's approximately 5 minutes and 36 seconds long.
This song was released in a remix package correct? I'm surprised there aren't as many remixes/bootlegs for it as Wavy Gravy. Airdrawndagger is just packed with gold, and Magnetic North was probably my second favorite. Overall his weakest? I disagree with a sword and a mac 10

Magnetic North is an awesome track. One of my favorites as well as Wavy Gravy =)

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jul-24-2009 13:45:

It's interesting that Airdrawndagger recieved really poor reviews at the time and was seen as something of a flop, and now most people seem to regard it as a bit of a classic.

I think it's a decent album and I still listen to it occasionally, but it's so obviously a DJ's album. To me it plays through like a collection of references and homages.
