Awestruck

Today, I bought my first MicroSD memory card ever. I had just purchased a new mobile phone (Nokia 3120) and needed some extra memory, so I decided to just get the damn thing. The moment I saw the tiny card, I didn't believe my eyes. It was a minute chip, full of gigabytes. My computer that died a few weeks ago had a 4gb hard disk drive, and it was infinitely bigger than this. I mean, look at that!

As you can see on the right, the guy with the broken fleshlight can go on and swallow these cards as well for dessert (and he'll be none the wiser, that's true, but it's not like he's going to die from ingesting it, as opposed to eating my old hdd).

Now, isn't technology awesome? It all changed in a matter of just a few years... I can't even imagine what will be around in a decade or so!

That being said, this thread is about how amazing it is to live in our age. w00t! Has any gadget made you feel like that lately?

Marcos you're such a fucking nerd.

So what, exactly, are you trying to secretly brag about in this thread? Your phone? I got a new phone too and it probably shits on your Nokia. How do you like that?

Hehe, yeah, I know I'm a nerd

My jeans are more expensive than yours!

Edit: And no Lira, happiness doesn't come from neat little gadgets, it comes from yourself. You would have felt the same way 10.000 years ago about finding a great new firestone.

Wait, aren't you the guy wearing only 200$ designer jeans?! Damn, I must have mixed up my stereotypes...

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jul-23-2009 22:36:

Uh no, he's the guy wearing a tutu.

Oh, I don't. I went shopping with my younger brother because I didn't know what the hell a MicroSD was when I woke up today.

Haha, Lira's stupid!!

*points*

Technology makes me very hopeful.

I read a New Scientist magazine earlier this week, which I haven't done for a few years, and it (that publication) always amazes me with what the human race is producing and how far we will advance in the next decade. It almost makes up for the boundless stupidity you hear of daily (people suing each other over frivolities, et cetera).

I wouldn't say "only". I have a few pairs of expensive designer denim that I got at sample sales and stuff, so in theory yes they're $200 but I only paid like $90

Plus the $40 ones are from H&M. Amazing.

You're in Germany, right? Weird, all the ones I saw in London sold men's and women's clothing, same with here.

This is such an awesome publication.

Would you please stop ruining my jokes with your damned facts!?!?

I know they also have men's stuff, but H&M is mainly popular with 14 year old girls around here.

Same here. But $40 jeans and $5 t-shirts can't be beat

I'm consistently amazed by the capabilities of some of the reporting tools that I have access to (at work). The amount of data that is available and the ease with which it can be manipulated/filtered is amazing.
