New Rave and the 20 year cycle?

If New Rave is the revival (wtf?) of old rave/madchester from the 80s then does that mean we will start seeing good EDM again in the next 10 years?

Or is this just conjecture and bullshit?

If the 20 year cycle is true then 2013-2016 will be utterly awesome.

New rave is basically a lot of rock bands who use keyboards and occasionally cover early 90s hardcore/rave tracks.

The early 90s have been "back in" for a little while now. I've been hearing electro house remixes of almost every early 90s classic you care to name for at least a year. The update of Guru Josh last year is perhaps the most high-profile example.

Other evidence of an early-90s comeback: all the IDM guys keep making retro rave records, Zomby's "Where Were U In 92", Orbital reuniting.

So far it's been less stylistic renaissance, more lazy remix spree.

Good EDM has always existed, you just have to look for it

God, how I hate that stupid track and the idiotic bandwagon of identically sounding tracks it has created. I don't like the original that muc either but Taucher's version from 1995 is pure win.

what J said. that whole short-lived indie thing mainly used rave as a buzzword.

Outside of remixes, a lot of old tracks have been making a resurgence. Mike Dunn's God Made Me Phunky is all over the place.

you mean like the music in the "indie dance / nu disco" genre on beatport? i think there is already quite a bit of good tunes in that genre. i also think its hypocritical of people to diss that music but then turn around and praise all things daft punk.

Taucher has always had a knack for being able to accentuate the essential elements of a track when he remixes it.
