Have you ever seen / heard a DJ booed off stage?

Well, have you? Any of the so-called 'big names'?

Posted by johnjaxs on Jul-26-2009 05:36:

That would be embarrasing
I think that wouldn't happen though since the fans that show up to the DJ sets are usually die hard fans.

Posted by woscar on Jul-26-2009 05:48:

I haven't seen any 'big names' getting booed, but I did see a local DJ opening for someone getting pulled out by the promoter cause he was banging the shit out of the place at 10 fucking PM dropping "The Mongoose" and "No Pressure" and shitez.

I also heard a local open for John Digweed during his Transitions 3 Tour drop 'Coma', the Gui Boratto remix of 'Silverlake Pills' 'Speere' and 'Gridlock' during his last hour. I'm pretty sure John wanted to punch him in the fucking throat when he went up.

Most locals over here don't have the tiniest notion of how to warm-up properly, it's ridiculous.

Although it wasn't exactly the booing that got him off stage, there was still plenty of that going on during the famous Rob Gee incident at Sensation Black in 2006.

Posted by LoveHate on Jul-26-2009 10:16:

no but way back when i seen tiesto...and the local dude was on everyone started to cheer for tiesto..during the breakdown of a track thinkin the local dudes set was over..but really it was only the middle..kinda felt bad for him.

No but I wanted to do it when listening live to sensation 2003. Ferry played an awesome set, it was kinda dark ending, was really good fun...

10 Darude - Music (Bostik Mix)
11 Benny Benassi - Satisfaction (Steve Murano Remix)
12 Ferry Corsten - Punk
13 Grooveyard - Mary Go Wild (New Remix)
14 Ferry Corsten - Rock Your Body Rock (F Massif Remix)

Armin follows and begins as such

01 Sensation Intro
02 Gabriel & Dresden pres. Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Armin van Buuren Remix)
03 The Matrix - Take The Pill (Junkie XL Bonus Remix)
04 Ronald Klinkenberg - Melting Point & P-Diddy - Let's Get Ill (Acapella)

It was like the energy just disappeared into a vortex. Half the irc gimps like arturo etc were all like 'omgatrcidieicrybestsetever' about 5 minutes in too

That's where you need to come in, Oscar

judge jules. he didn't get booed off stage, but the whole place just emptied.

When I saw 2 Many DJs they went down really well, but they were obviously playing a completely pre-planned set, and they didn't have any records left at the end when the crowd were shouting for one more tune. So they were loudly booed as they went off, minutes after tearing shit up.

hehe...I'm working on it. Things are looking up, and it's pretty much up to me if I want to start playing out. Check your PMs

Armand Van Helden got booed off at Space for playing old school hip hop.

The clever person in me wouldn't go again, as it was merely a stadium sized reproduction of what many local DJs do every Saturday night.

The clever person in me wants to go to a Tenaglia gig holding a huge sign that says "Hello Danny, I'm recording your set"

I just remembered that I read about an incident with Tiesto in El Salvador where he got on stage 2 hours later than scheduled and played only like a 1 hour set or something. Both him and the guy that was warming up for him got all sorts of shit thrown at them like water bottles, beer cans, rocks, etc. I remember watching a video where the warm-up guy had to pull a Carl Cox and hide underneath the tables all throughout his last hour, and only barely got up just to mix songs. Of course, it had nothing to do with the music that was played.

I have seen Josh Wink booed off a stage ages ago. He actually cried. To stick up for him, he has come a long way since then.

James Lavelle was booed at (not off the stage) WMC a few years back at the Ultra Carry on that was held at the American Airlines arena in Miami. James did not transition tracks. He played songs from start to end for about a half an hour before the crowd got restless.

back in 05, Lavelle & Holden were playn @ my local club. Lavelle comes on & plays the worst set ive ever experienced. when he was done, there were people in the crowd "booing" & others screaming "you suck"

Holden comes on to cheers from the crowd & then proceeded to suck balls, only incrementally better than Lavelle

speaking of Lavelle... i just heard his GU39 (or whatevr # it is) Mini-Mix hoping that he's made some progress since then, it was almost as bad as what i heard back in 05

I heard Claude von Stroke got booed off the decks at DC10 last summer. Everytime I've seen him its been painful but his new ep is quite good actually.

Posted by _Ocean_Drive_ on Jul-27-2009 05:37:

Now I remember it, there were a few disappointed voices when I saw PvD in Feb '08 in Tokyo, myself included.

Has anyone made an animated gif of that Carl Cox 'duck 'n' cover' clip?

Posted by Greedy on Jul-27-2009 05:47:

Steve Aoki got booed and the owner of a club here in DC shut him down when he decided to play original Rage Against the Machine

Posted by bamski on Jul-27-2009 10:19:

Freeland is the only guy I've heard play original RATM, and he fucking nailed it

also, lolaoki
