I love my KRK Rokit 5 Gen 2's. I'd also recommend getting the 10s subwoofer.

also now looking at the Harbinger APS15 Powered PA Speaker

I used to monitor with a pair of Rokits at home and they were wonderful but they aren't something I would consider playing out with though. So if you are considering playing out at least the Behringers or the Mackie would allow you to do both.

Get a mackie

For home the KRKs are more hen enough to wake the neighbors! Those things pack a serious punch for their size.

Might want to consider a pair of M-Audio Studiophile BX8s as well in there.

For bedroom/home use with your setup, the KRK should be good enough. I owned a pair of those and I liked them a lot. You definately don't want to use the KRK or gigs though because those are studio monitors. For gigs and stuff, you'll be better off getting JBL, Mackie, B-52, etc. Hope that helps.

your gona want to play out at some point so id get pa's for sure. out of the two id get the Behringer B212A's simply because they come with stands, cables, everything you need to play your own gig. the mackie is super nice but its less practical for playing out because there's only one, and it doesn't come with a stand which is kind of important. Those behringers are going to be plenty loud for anything you will do, and you'll have a much fuller sound with a speaker on each side of you while practicing instead of just one. the choice is yours bra. just follow your heart.

Between those two, the Behringers.

You have to decide if you want PA speakers like the 212's or studio monitors like the KRKs etc.

For bedrooms and small parties, I'd recommend the Behringer Truth B2031a active monitors. I own 2. They're more than loud enough for bedroom sessions and a small party. They're inexpensive, durable, and basically the best bang for the buck out there. Speakers are one of the few things Behringer is known to do right, so don't be turned off by the branding.

My 0.02

Ill go with the PA and prob settle on the 212s for now, unless anyone has opinions on the Harbinger APS15 (trying to stay on a budget for now).

Id like to stay around $500-600. Would it be recommenced to just get one PA now of better quality until I get enough to buy second, or just start off with two.

Eventually you'll want to have gigs and spin out right? If so, you might as well get 2 speakers. If I were you, I'd save a few more hundred and get this http://www.guitarcenter.com/B-52-MA...151-i1153270.gc

go to your local guitar center and bargain them down and maybe they'll even do it for $750 (give or take) out the door. good luck.
