Ian - Summer 2009 DnB Mix [Half-Step, Liquid]

Been a while since I put a mix on here and there has been some awesome tunes around in the last 12 months that I've continually found myself wanting to wait for something to get released before I put something out. Once again that's the case but here's what I have for Summer 09.

It starts out with 15 minutes of Half Step. Imagine normal paced DnB & simply use half of the normal kicks and twice the hi-hat/percussive works. It's really mellow & nice and then the mix kicks on.

Don't expect a superstar DJ quality mix, just some good tunes that not everyone else here is offering including some of the biggest tunes of this year from the likes of sub focus, spor and instra:mental

Length 55:10

bop - song about my dog
instra:mental - photograph
saburuko - warped (instra:mental remix)
lomax - too real
d-bridge - wonder where
trisector - morning rain
klute - hell hath no fury
bcee - generations
bcee - consumed (logistics remix)
agent alvin - drift away
b-complex - beautiful lies
deadmau5 - remember (j majik & wickaman remix)
spor - aztec
sub focus - rock it (DP - robot rock remix)
sub focus - follow the light
shy fx - feelings (nu:tone remix)
tidal - impressions
cyantific - empty streets

comments are much welcome and I am aware that the transition from feelings into impressions isn't brilliant

Downloading now, let you know after I have a listen

Listened, there are some truly sublime tracks in this one Ian. Didn't hear anything wrong with the mixing so I think you can chalk it up to being a success!

I'll take a taste

I said fuck the other sets, I wanted to listen to this one first.

I thought the mix at the 17 minute mark was a tad rough, but nothing really bad, so not to worry. I think the main reason was because it went from more breaky half-step to DnB in one fell swoop. This track here is really good, very upbeat. This vocal at the 22 minute mark is a tad out of place, but a lot of times you can't avoid vocals in DnB. It's okay, because this song is pretty catchy, so nothing to worry about.

Ooh, the volume is picking up here at 28 minutes, quite an interesting change of pace. Great track tho, it's got me bouncing even if the volume got boosted up quite a bit. Wow! Cool part at 38:30, fucking awesome! /bangs head Bit of a rough mix into 44 minutes, it's just the sounds that makes it a bit off, not the actual mixing, it's not like you're doing anything wrong. I don't really care for this track, to be honest. Sorry You finished off with a similar track to the previous one, it's not like it was bad, just wasn't my taste.

Overall, I thought the set was well put together, but WAY more DnB than I would have liked. I really liked the first 15 minutes the most, I thought it was really interesting. The DnB was good and tasty, but I think your progression could have been a little better. This was a win, so don't chalk it off as a loss. Great job, thanks for the music!

MEGAUPLOAD??

yea. i'll give it a listen

edit: giving this a listen now, quite a 'spacey' feel to it, lots of room for stuff, a nice sounding mix! i've been out of the dnb loop for sometime, the last time i listened to anything like this was probably when i was streaming real audio mixes onto tape haha (broadband is win) but yeah im really liking this one! looking forward to hearing vol.2 perhapps?

thanks very much for a detailed reply Appreciate it. I did take a few different styles really and some of them work to my ears, some probably don't but I'm not looking for perfection, just a fun journey that I can listen back to and which I can try & expose people to good sounds too.

Great mix man, a lot of really good tunes. Love that Tidal track from Bukems fabriclive comp.

I liked one of your previous liquid dnb sets so I will check that one too!

Hey smelly, finally got around to listen to this one. I really love this one! I think this is my favorite mix from you. Awesome ch00nage, love this idea of going from half-step into liquid. Didn't really pay attention to the mixing, so can't really comment on that. This is really a mix to listen to while you close your eyes and feel the sun burn on your skin...

Here's a direct download link, thanks to Boomers for hosting:

The file is going up up up as I type, Mr. Ianner.

I can't listen to music at this moment, because I'm waiting for this guy to come to my aunt & uncle's house to fix their garage door opener and then another guy is coming to fix the shades in their family room (the little part that holds the cord broke) but but but I shall listen and after I listen I shall let you know how greaaaaaaaaaaaaat this set is, of course? Of course!
