Nice, was getting a bit disappointed that there didn't seem to be much going on this weekend that had my attention - may need to head to this.

Whats the venue like?

Posted by malek on Jul-29-2009 02:22:

Dress Code & Bottle Service kinda-place? (Which, I tend to dislike actually).

Posted by Maher Daniel on Jul-29-2009 16:39:

no specific dress code just dress comfortably this venue is extremely relaxed and caters to the crowed, they are looking for you to enjoy your night and have a great time rather then feel the need to have you dress up and purchase bottles

have fun dance and enjoy the music

I know I been hearing that track sampled and remixed alot lately! Kevin stills plays it in some recents I've heard from him.

Fuck man gotta work Sunday and Monday! I wish I could be there!

Posted by Dj Nacht on Jul-30-2009 19:59:

I'm guessing hes going to be playing Chicago style instead of Detroit? If thats the case I'm seriously rethinking this!

Posted by RayRayy on Jul-30-2009 20:17:

no i think he'll play more detroit style.

Posted by Dj Nacht on Jul-31-2009 21:25:

Actually I take back my comment about chicago. Listening to History Elevate Remixed and now I remember what good house is

Going to attempt a tiny review.. Left the west island at 11:15 and finally arrived in front of the door at 1:20. Thank you city of Montreal for such wonderful traffic and shitty roads. It was supposed to be 15$ after 12:30 but the cool doorman came upstairs with us to make sure we got in for 10$. The guy DJ'ing was dropping his last track as we where walking in, so we ended up getting there just in time. Dunno who the guy was though but he dropped La Mezcla. Kevin got on and he started playing these old school vocals without a beat for a good 6 minutes and finally it happend. Out of nowhere he drops some shit flying at atleast 132+ BPM My night was made and all the traffic was worth it! He ended up progressively slowing it down throughout the night and slowly injecting more and more housey elements. At the end he dropped the oldies like Good Life and the crowd was loving it. 5 minutes before 3 I went to the bathroom and sa a poster which I removed from the wall. Waited untill the end and had the legend sign the poster. Felt like I was a little kid at Aria again asking Mauro to sign my ferrari hat.

The place was packed but definately not as bad as Salon Daome gets when they book good DJ's. Really liked the place and the soundsystem and the crowd atleast seemed to be there for Kevin.

Where the funk was everyone??(TA's)

Posted by Bertuzz on Aug-03-2009 00:39:

I showed up round....1:45? Stayed till the end.
Good times all around, kept having Upperclub flashbacks.
The upstairs room is actually being used now, very chill-out atmosphere up there.
like Nacht, didn't see any TAs. Maybe I'm getting old and I don't recognize any of the new TAs anyways.
good life, good life, good life, good life, in the...good life!!

Posted by malek on Aug-03-2009 01:25:

completly forgot about that!!! And I was looking for somewhere to go yesterday! Passed by a few minutes to check Angel Moraes at Karma, but it wasn't my thing. oh well my loss.

Posted by Alexx G on Aug-03-2009 04:20:

what an amazing party it was. got there early around 11h30, expecting the place to be somewhat full, turns out that we were the first ones and only ones there... totally wasnt expecting that. even around 1am the place was still half packed. I was expecting many more ppl that night, i was convinced it was going to sell out, but oh well, at least i actually had space to dance. crazy ass music, fast-paced evil techno, just the way i like it, especially the last 30+ minutes. WOW. was very cool to have such an amazing dj in such an intimate venue. props for UZI for making this happen. cant wait to see whats next at panthere.

Posted by Leif on Aug-03-2009 04:24:

Steve's review pretty much covers it. Saunderson's intro was the odder ones I've encountered; 6 minutes of vocals, sudden soft-jazz, sudden 130 bpm techno... good set overall; quite a bit of jazz infused house.

You stole the poster I was going to steal

edit: did you guys catch the shooting up the street? A good block of St-Laurent was shut down.

Posted by Dj Nacht on Aug-03-2009 06:16:

hahah that poster was just asking to be taken

When I walked out at the 3:10 it was as if I walked into hell. Is it just me or are people just getting more and more stupid? Cops, ambulances, stretchers and drunk sketchy people everywhere. Maybe I don't go out much anymore, I dunno?

Man killed, woman injured in fatal downtown Montreal shooting
Canwest News ServiceAugust 2, 2009
MONTREAL One man was killed and two people were seriously injured in separate shootings early Sunday in downtown Montreal.

Const. Anie Lemieux said a 27-year-old man was shot and killed at about 3:25 a.m. Sunday on St. Laurent Blvd. after he was seen arguing with a man outside of some nearby bars.

A 22-year-old woman was also shot in the upper body in a melee on St. Laurent Blvd. and was listed in serious but stable condition Sunday morning, Lemieux said.

She said the woman was talking with some friends near where the man was shot, although it does not appear she knew the victim.

There are conflicting reports about the assailant. Some witnesses told police they saw one man leave the scene on foot while others said one or two men fled in a car. Police did not have detailed descriptions of the suspect or suspects.

Lemieux said there was no known motive for the shooting.

In a third incident, a 38-year-old man was found around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, shot and critically injured in an alley.

He was listed in stable but critical condition Sunday, Lemieux said.
