selling stuff on craigslist. your experiences?
so i recently got on the craigslist bandwagon and have been selling pretty much anything i can find in my apartment that may be worth money- i'm moving out of my apartment soon and into a studio, and i'm trying to save some cash up and minimize having to move excess appliances and furniture. i've had pretty good success with selling shit- electronics, dj equipment, and musical instruments are usually gone within the week
lately, however, i've been put in some really weird situations. one guy tried sending me a fake $1550 check via overnight fedex for a $200 power tool. another guy refused to meet me at my apartment, and tried forcing me to meet him in a mall parking lot to sell some old video games. and now, most recently, i've had 2 different poor hmong families come to my apartment and try to haggle me down from $20 for a couch/foldout bed
anyone else have any interesting experiences with craigslist?
Using the Free section, I gave away a 15" flat screen monitor that was not working. I advertised it as "broken & not working". I got tons of calls. The guy that picked it up called back & bitched that it didnt work. But it has worked well with selling cabinets, windows & doors. Next im gonna prolly try & sell my soda machine using craigslist.
Avoid anyone named Raul Perez (or whatever his name was).
I was addicted to reading Missed Connections for a while. Lol.

Sold a ton of furniture and my TV before leaving Orlando a couple years ago. The worst part is people leading you on and decommitting at the last minute.... and the fucking freaks that show up at your place to buy whatever.
I've also bought and sold concert tickets with pretty good success.
I tried to sell my couch but nobody would buy it. Obviously I was asking too much...but the fucking thing is brand new. I mean I only had sex on in it once, and didn't even get cum on it! People are so cheap, god.
one thing that worked out pretty well for me on craigslist- a while ago i sold my original xbox. it isn't worth any more than $40 or $50 used. i loaded a bunch of old nintendo games and shit on it and this fat, dorky-ass, all-black-holey-tshirt-wearing, greasy red-headed ponytail-sportin' douche bought it for $200. ha that was awesome.

Ok fuck I lied, Jimmy got cum all over the couch. :/
But it just occurred to me that there's lots of sickos out there who are into that. Maybe I should be honest about it and post it in the personals section instead. Prolly get a lot more money for it too.

My CL selling experiences have been overwhelmingly effective and straightforward, mainly because I did the best I could to ensure that it would be this way during the emails and phone calls beforehand.
The only hiccup I experienced was when someone tried to dump the generic Chinese HDJ1000's knock off's on me for 60 bucks, which is, again, something I could have avoided running into in the emails beforehand, but I was in something of a rush at the time.
I don't know why, but I have this irrational fear that some weird dude from my past is going to show up at my door to buy my shit...and that he ends up stalking me and I have to move and/or get a restraining order.
i've been able to successfully sell
every time.
