DJ agencies
Hi,
Anyone on here had any experience with DJ agencies? Do you actually get gigs when you join them?
for example : http://www.uk-djs.net/
Just a quick question!
Cheers
Yes, but only if you play Melodic Uplifting Trance.
only if you make a name for yourself through productions.
if no one knows who you are and you just play other peoples music they can't turn you into a superstar.
i was thinking of making a thread like this today as well.. lol.. anyone know of any good agencies for up&coming dj's?
IMO... the only way to get spinning everywhere and start living off dj'ing is to get some killer releases on huge labels and then joining one of the established booking agencies with big names, not the ones that look like the unemployment bureau pages.
They are a waste of time and will only try to tie you into a deal longer than you want. They will only really look after you in the last year of the contract to ensure that you sign again in many cases.
They will take a percentage of what you make too, but you do have to have some productions out there even to get on most of them.
Never pay to get on to an agency list.
The only time that are worth the time and effort is if you already are somebody who doesn't have time to manage your own bookings due to overwhelming demand.
They really are not an answer to the question 'how do I get more bookings' as this is ultimately what is being asked.
If you have a name then people will go where they need to in order to get you, doesn't matter if it's an agency or not. Promoters wont contact an agency and say 'who have you got' they will already know who they want and will contact the agency accordingly.
Cheers
