Exclamation 2002 World Cup

Why was the World Cup split between Japan and korea? I mean it's the first time in history that the world cup has been held between 2 countries, right? Also, why is it KOrea-Japan and not Japan/korea (alpha order)? Someone inform me please, i am curious.

it was split for this reason. neither Korea or japan was considered big enough to host the world cup... Fifa didnt think they had enough stadiums or the money to host it.I mean they could but it would be too big of a burden. But korea and Japan wanted to host it so to ease the pressure of stadiums and the money, actually its all money, they split it, since they are right next to each other....

Korea/Japan. Well some argued that korea is spelled Corea blah blah in french or something..i dont know...so its first but they got the right of making it Korea/Japan offically by taking the name and giving up the Finals to japan...thee end

Korea and Japan wanted to host the wc seperatly but since they both realised that they wouldn't stand a chance against South Africa(first time in africa) and some other bets, they decided to put their efforts together... since both countries are so close to each other it would've been great. Plus, its original to have two countries hosting a wc. I don't think its because of stadiums, actually there's more stadiums now than any other wc. 20 or so in all.

Why is Korea first? its because of a coin toss.

Both countries are very very serious about this and they both argue about it everytime there's an oficial document to be released. It just shows that both have a long way to go before forgetting the past (ww1, ww2... enough said).

Other countries are trying the same, for example scandinavian countries, and maybe if I remember well Greece and Turkey!

what the hell is wrong with your attitude. I was asking a simple question, waiting for a simple response.

i heard that the main reason it was set up between korea and japan was so that the two countries could get along, but sadly this didnt happen and all they did was fight. i wondered why korea was listed first too because japan comes first alphabetically but i dont know exactly how it worked out that korea was placed first. i was watching korean news one day and when i saw the support you guys gave to the korean team it really touched me. too bad we cant be there in yokohama with you guys
