-- Traktor Scratch Pro vs Duo
Traktor Scratch Pro vs Duo
I've read info on both, and the obvious differences are the 4 vs 2 deck option. In your opinion (for those that have used), what would be my justification for the the Pro vs Duo. I've never really spun with 4 decks, but if I had the option....hmm not sure. Any input from those of you who are Scratch professionals? Thanks.
I'm just gonna get duo. I've done three deck mashups and they're certainly fun, but not worth the cash for me.
And I can still do 'em once I get a four channel mixer again
Pro has lots more effects if thats your thing and also allows the capability to record inside Traktor. It also comes with the Audio 8 DJ as opposed to the Audio 4 DJ.
i dont own traktor yet but have been considering for a while. My setup at home consists of 2 1210s and 2 cdjs so i liked the idea of not losing any flexibility. I really think that if you have 4 inputs and can afford it, why limit yourself?
Get duo you can always upgrade to pro if you aren't satisfied.

Yeah I have 2 CDJ's and 2 1200's, and with Pro I can play:
1. Regular CD's
2. Regular vinyl
3. Timecode CD's
4. Timecode vinyl
Or I can use my 2 SCS.3D's to MIDI control all 4 decks. It's very flexible.
Duo looks great, but if you can pony up for Pro right now you'll probably be happier in the end.
It's not just that either, Duo has some things missing like customizable keyboard shortcuts. I use keyboard shortcuts for loading tracks onto decks and such, it's very effective.
I also don't know what will be missing from the new 1.2 Pro release that's coming next month (public beta is out now).
Cool
Thanks everyone for your input....yeah, the customizable hot keys is a plus with Pro. I'm not too worried about the 'internal' recording, as I dedicate a line out of my mixer, but that was because I had an older IBook and FS 2.0. Given my Macbook Pro is much more labor intensive, I'm sure it would be able to record via the program without a skip. I have an EFX-500, but the included effects with Pro has me excited. I first thought the Duo would be good because it was still an upgrade from my FS 2.0, but for a little more to upgrade to the Pro, I think it's worth it. Thanks to everyone again for your input!
I have traktor scratch and you can't upgrade to pro, you have the buy the full software $225, bullshit

The same programs, but Scratch Pro has the ability to use timecode, while normal Pro doesn't. |
It's simple: if you're thinking of getting Serato, save yourself $350 and get Duo. If you're thinking of getting Traktor for its extra features, then get Traktor Pro.

| Originally posted by skip Well, I guess so, if by Pro you meant Traktor Pro and not Traktor Scratch Pro. But what I don't get is how is having an extra feature (which you don't have to use) a negative thing? Why on earth would you want Pro instead of Scratch Pro if you already have Scratch? ![]() Especially as it costs more to upgrade to Pro from Scratch than it costs to upgrade to Scratch Pro from Scratch. You seem to make very little sense, but I guess that's allowed. |
