The joke was already posted in the first post, Trace. Nothing more really needs to be said.
Morning after leaves me baffled, once again, at how the majority of people on this forum can claim in some way or another that this guys sucks.
I had my doubts earlier in the evening when it because evident that he wasn't going on until 1. I had listened to the friends I'd come with bitch about the opening DJ about as long as I could take it and was about to bail...not many people were dancing, which is a bad sign for a club at a quarter to 1.
... then magically, as soon as Aoki shows up, the place explodes with enough energy that I think The Mark can't contain it. Even if you're not feeling the music, you'd have to pick up on that vibe and have a great time.
We all enjoyed it. Walking out covered in sweat with hurting feet is the sign of a good night.
I was confused, though, at the number of half naked men who would rush the front at random times. Bong ALWAYS likes to stand pretty close to the front, so whenever I'd go out and dance I'd soon be victim of a sweaty manlove stampede. I'll bring a helmet next time

Hmm. Not familiar with his work. Just checked out his myspace and seems like a good compliment to Aoki.
i don't know, i mean he's definitely a showman. but of all the videos i've seen of him, and hearing his sets, he seems kind of like a spaz.
but i'm glad to hear that it was a great time out... that echoes what some of the charlotte folks said about his stop there.
Chris, the main issue that had some folks panties in a twist was that Aoki came on after 1, meaning that we put up with the opener for WAY too long. I didn't mind him so much until I realized I was going to have to endure it another hour. There wasn't really any flow to the set, and he played a lot of insanely mixed hip hop tracks. It was kinda like those DJ's that mix Lil Jon and Madonna, we were just like "WTF is this?" I went up to the top to get phone service about 12:30 and talked with a few other confused souls asking the same thing: "Is this what Aoki will sound like? And when the Hell is he showing up?"
And everyone in there was a spaz, hence my joke about needing a helmet next time around

He's become such a favorite here in Charlotte that he's been booked three times within one year and they were all packed. Dude is crazy spraying champagne on people and stage diving . We had a fuckin blast every time he comes. Here's a video comp on Aoki at the forum.
you're in that video! hehe...i just noticed---he used cdj's this time and not his laptop.
