Review : U2 in Zagreb Aug. 10, 2009

I could rave about this for days and weeks and still never really express the feelings and emotion i've been injected with.

This being my 2nd U2 show - the other being in Toronto for the Vertigo tour in 2005 - i knew what to expect.
I went in expecting a night of passion, LOVE, and emotion..and that's exactly what I got.
Despite expecting this, I'm completely blown away.
The energy U2 brings is absolutely unparalleled.
Mind-blowingly amazing experience.

So much LOVE...to a degree of inspiring you to do something more...to want something more...
Whether in life or just at that very moment, you feel like you NEED to express all the LOVE you've ever felt..and it'd still not be enough..not even close.

The greatest high of all is pure LOVE, and no one personifies this as does U2.
The essence of everything they bring - the music, the show, the energy, and their message to the rest of the world is...LOVE and unity.

We are all ONE and it is LOVE that unites us all

I've seen them 4 times & you sir have it the nail on the head regarding the feeling you havev walking out of one of their shows. I just wish their show here in October wasn't so fuckin expensive. That's the only reason I'm not going.

P.S. - I can't believe they played Ultraviolet. You're so damn lucky.

GREAT REVIEW!!!
Being a HUUUGE U2 fan myself, this thread has gotten me super-psyched for both shows in sept - Thanks! I've seen them 4 times and i must say that everytime i see them, the performance gets better and better. Bono's like an 18 year old kid trapped in a 50-something year old's body... running around the stage during the intro of "Where the Streets Have No Name" brings an overwhelming feeling throughout my body like nothing else. I've been waiting for another U2 show for 4 years, and i cannot WAIT to see them again!
If anyone wants to see a REAL concert, buy a pair of tix for their show in sept... i promise they will NOT disappoint! And for those of you who don't particularly like any of their songs, their live shows give off a completely different vibe... it's a very intense and overwhelming feeling when you're just one of 30,000 people packed in an arena singing on top of your lungs to "Sunday Bloody Sunday"... it's surreal.

p.s. love your pics!!!

Posted by italarmo on Aug-11-2009 14:40:

p.p.s. they've been playing ultraviolet for most of their shows - they haven't played it since their zoo tv tour - fucking amazing!!

Correction people about ticket prices. They were a hell of a lot cheaper than many others bands and musical artists if you were ready when the on-sale started.

The best tickets which are the general admission floors (you always have the potential to be in front rows with these tickets) were very affordable. We bought tickets for both the September 16th,17th shows at the Rogers Centre at exactly $57 a piece all-inclusive. No stupid Ticketmaster service charges or building fees added to the ticket price if you bought at the venue.

Second favorite band after Depeche Mode, admittedly they actually pull off even a much more passionate and crowd pleasing show than any other fucking band in the world. I've seen them 7 times already and can't wait to see them again!!!

so fucking excited to be seeing them (for the first time) in sept.

question re: floor seats ... when do they usually open the doors and when is a good time to get there if you want to be near the stage?

Floor tix in Zagreb were $109...scored my 3 for $80 the day before the show.
Put into perspective, the avg Croatian salaray is $1000/month = $250/week. Slighly less than in CAN, no??
Thankfully i make more

Depeche would be my #3

Starts off with "Dobro večer Hrvatska....jeste dobro?!?"
---> "Good evening Croatia...how are you?!?"

I fuckin LOVE how they always make a point to truly KNOW about the country they're visiting...
even say a few words in the language

Can never get enough of Bono's little speeches of inspiration :

"The traditions that you have around here are so sacred, so special, so ancient, that need to be respected...
But the past is only to be respected so much..it's never to be respected more than
the present or the future.
You have a bright future here in the West Balkans...a sun-lit, bright, Mediterranean future..
You're just getting going! You're just getting started!"

OMG does that EVER set me on fire!
Goosebumps forEVER for this

Also never get tired of pulling a girl up on stage for a dance...
My 2nd fave U2 song

They usually open the doors @ 7pm, but the lineup for GAs starts early in the morning and wraps around the building throughout the day... i'll be there!!! lol

T-Minus 1 month until I finally see them for the first time.
I am sosooooo excited

Thanks so much for sharing Vrk

I am so freaking pumped... they are my all-time faves and I managed to get through right away and have floor seats. I don't care that they are GA, I got 2 tix for $144 all taxes/fees included and can finally cross them off my list... weeeeee

your GA tix are better than any seats you could have gotten for that concert, especially given that it's at the Rogers centre... trust me.
