I listened to about 30 minutes of it live, then had to head home. I'll download and give it a full listen later.

The Add2Basket mix works fine when I download off the page, but every time I try and play yours, I get a Windows Media Player error. The file seemed to download fine and my firewall doesn't block the Spirit Soul page, so I dunno what happened... I will try again @ home. Anyone else get the error with Oscar's portion of the set?

Posted by lenazi on Aug-13-2009 17:58:

i'm getting the error too i will retry later and wait a day or 2 so that my new mix does not steal all of your thunder oscar

Posted by woscar on Aug-13-2009 18:05:

LOL, Jay

That's damn weird...my sister downloaded and listened last night without any problems. Did you try to open it with iTunes or another media player?

Posted by lenazi on Aug-13-2009 18:06:

Fantastic mix, Oscar! Most of the tracks were familiar, but for good reason. (What was that last track, though? Really enjoyed.) The mixing is very clean and it doesn't sound like a live mix at all.

Great flow is maintained throughout. The only transition that was kinda "obvious" was the mix going into Good Voodoo (just the volume difference). It wasn't bothersome or anything, just more noticeable than the others.

Again, great mix, and keep these coming. I still have 002 sitting on my hard drive

Thanks a lot for the listen and the comments mate, much appreciated

I will have 2 mixes coming out in the next 2 weeks for different radio shows that I was invited.

For those of you that are having problems, I just opened a Soundcloud account and I'm uploading right now.

ETA 4 minutes

Edit: Nice listen. Got distracted about half way through (damn dog!) and decided to start all over again because I didn't want to miss anything.

All the tracks are familiar but like someone above me said, that's because they're all ch00ns. I think that's something to work on, though. Maybe it's because we have the same tastes/influences, but listening to the set and knowing just about every tune can't be a good thing, ya know? I've found that to be a drawback from listening to sets/shows, you tend to borrow tracks from others, and never influence yourself. It's something I really need to work on too.

Wasn't too keen on the mix into h.e.a.d.s, but as you already know I don't like mixing into that tune, period. There was a major vibe change there, whether it was intentional or not.

Also, with some mixes in the beginning the EQing was a bit drastic and predictable (end of a bar). Again, no idea if that was intentional or not, but I thought it could have been smoother.

Other than that, for a live mix it was pretty flawless.

Hope the critique helps, and looking forward to future shows!

For some reason, the mix worked fine at home... maybe because my computer at work is stuck using an antiquated version of WMP and we can't d/l new software on here without leaping 20 hurdles, but anyways...

I thought the mixing was absolutely excellent... probably your best yet in terms of technical ability. Going from HEADS into Hurt fit so well, the songs felt like they were made to go together. The set had a great flow, started out pretty lush and deep at the onset, got techy and bouncy at the middle, and ended on an uplifting, funky note (great lead in to A2B's set). I especially liked the track after Good Voodoo as well.

Well...we do visit the same forums, listen to the same sets and shop the same labels

What do you mean by the EQ'ing being "drastic" and "predictable"? I worked on much longer blends in this mix so the EQ'ing was actually very gradual. Most, if not all, of the mixes were done via the channel faders and the EQ though.

Critique always helps man, that's pretty much the type of feedback I prefer on mixes. Pretty much all I know about mixing has been self-taught through trial and error, reading a lot of stuff and the feedback that I receive on my mixes.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and write this!

Thanks Luke, it's good to know there's a noticeable improvement in every mix I put out. And yeah, those two tracks go together really well.

Thanks for the listen and the comments.

I don't think there's much people left in this forum who don't know how much I love "Good Voodoo", LOL.

Posted by Mr Game+Watch on Aug-15-2009 07:28:

I was humming "Good Voodoo" all day today (had it stuck in my head from your mix), my brother thought I was humming the battle song for one of the Pokemon games, which apparently sounds kinda similar :P
