This one is pure psychedelia here, Mag. Great tracks, very smooth transitions, and lots of warping/twisting/mindfucks. I really don't have any criticism or parts that I liked in particular, seeing as how this style of music is best left to view as a whole rather than each specific track (unless there is a bad/annoying track, which luckily there weren't ). Nice job here, man, I enjoyed it!

Think the best word to describe it is 'relentless', it just keeps up the energy and intensity all the way through. Hope you're happy with it, very good job to capture that.

I'll go have a lie down now

This kind of feedback always fills me with joy since you actually captured the idea of the set in those words. Never stopping, always pushing forward energy, relentlessly, over and over. Big thanks!

My next dark mix will be a massive improvement over my last. Yin's Revenge is going to destroy even YOUR mind, Mag.

After words like these, I will wait eagerly for that one!

Fuck yes.

Surprised I recongise none of the artists except wizard twizack though.

Posted by ziptnf on Aug-21-2009 13:23:

I just glanced through the tracklist, I didn't look at it last time. You're playing Holographic Image AND October Fairy??

Those tracks were soooo going on Yin's Revenge, now I have to pick new ones.

Ok that was awesome. So many amazing tracks, that are great for a variety of reasons. From mind melting, to incredibly atmospheric to dreamey to trippey.

Good flow, great track selection, beatmatching was quite good. Must have more (and was better than Basilisks dark mix).

Are you referring to his set at Eclipse 2009 or at Darkrave vs Panic?

His Darkrave vs Panic set is unreal, if you haven't heard it, I suggest you stop whatever it is you're doing and listen to it.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, a lot of the names here are unknown but some are, I am surprised you only know Wizack Twizack. Onkel Dunkel and Savage Scream are also well known. Anyway, thanks again!

Hehe, yeah, both tracks are gorgeous. If you gonna look at ektoplazm's darkpsy collection, be sure to check VA - Natura. Plus, there are a vast number of comps/albums, wont be hard to find something nice!

Yeh that was crap iirc, might've gotten better later on but I got about 20 minutes in and was still bored. I dunno, might've been a bad day.

I don't agree with your taste in full on.

Will do... and well as much as ektoplazm is nice the quality isn't quite as good as released stuff.

I mean, it wasn't perfect, but it's not like it was some background music either. It was darkpsy at its finest, and that doesn't always sit well with people. Darker forest psytrance seems to be more listenable on all accounts.

Not everybody does either, but I heard your attempt at it and it was laughable, so give me a little more credit.

Dig a little deeper, it has some good stuff.

Edit: I don't mean to be a dick, I try not to, but your post seemed rather snobbish to me. Not everyone has the same tastes, I just thought that remark about my taste was a little unnecessary.

Downloaded this set the other night, since I haven't really been keeping up with psy at all, and want to see what the genre has to offer. I'll let you know what I think, later!

Note to self: must work harder to please the honourable Darkarbiter!

I'll check out this mix too; the track list looks very nice.

This psy set is darker than most of the sets posted here. If you like it dark and heavy, this will probably be down your alley.

The set of basilisk that Darkarbiter points is a bit different than that. Its Night full-on not forest-like psy. I dont like the style either but thats personal taste!

Which one is he talking about? Was he not initially referring to the Darkrave vs Panic set or is he talking about a different one? I'm confused.

Yep, about that one. Its a bit different from the one here, I just pointed that out.

Oh I wasn't saying it wasn't different, the two styles are totally different. I think it's more darkpsy than Night full-on, Night full-on is more like Yin in my old Taijitu set. To each his own I suppose.

Fun little set, this. Didn't really pay diligent attention to it, but made for nice background music in my headphones while did my 'net rounds. Wait... 'nice background music' isn't exactly the kind of praise one should be handing out for a set that aims to be dark, is it. Er, um...

Well, whatever the case, it at least washed away all that Lady Gaga that got stuck in my head after my roommate repeatedly played the same three songs over and over for an hour.

Thanks for the review. In my opinion the situation affects the listening very much. For example when this set was played it was the beginning of the night, while you just listened to Lady Gaga for 1 hour. The effect is not the same as a listening experience but, for sure, I am very happy that it managed to wash away all those stupid songs of that weird lady.

Cheers!

Haha, lol!

P.S. I think soon enough I will up a new dark set since there will be another party!

I loved your other sets though, and as you said you had to work around the crowd. Guess it's just the particular variant on darkpsy I didn't like.

I agree generally. Although I love the fast feeling (usually has around 155 bpm though) full power/whatever sortof stuff that sucks you in and through the sun with lots of screechey sounds too(which is rather vague, but the 3 tracks before the last one on cybernetika's warpcore 3 would be what I'm talking about. Or artist's like zenmind or maybe Attoya). I also quite like some of the more melodic horror feelingey stuff like idk horror place, silent horror's better stuff, the nommos etc. Guess I'll just have to listen more and take note of what each artist sounds like. I recognise a fairly small amount in darkpsy/psy (at least compared to goa trance).

Yeh basically, sorry didn't mean it as in insult, I just like very particular full on.
