Question Ableton mixing tricks & techniques

I've become pretty familiar and rather good at mixing with Ableton in session view, using only my mouse and keyboard. I know it's lame, but that's all I have. Right now I have keys mapped out to kill the bass, 2 beat repeat effects, and an autofilter on/off switch. Also I have 3 keys for the crossfader, left, middle and right.

My question is, what more can I do to spice up my mixes? I'm talking about complex track transitions using effects.

Any tips?

Try using the Arrangement view a bit more. Automate effects and such.

buy a cheap controller like oxygen, make midi assignments to the knobs and faders and knock yourself out.

Eh, yeah, I suppose if I had real knobs then the possibilities might be endless. I don't know about using Arrangement view Live. That whole thing about lining up the waveforms...seems kinda gay /;

Buy a MIDI controller, a UC33e is a damn good controller for not a lot of money.

Why should he limit himself? Why can't he use both Session and Arrangement? Alot of Pro's use Arrangement along with the Session view as well. I don't see a problem with it.

For making mixed CD's arrangement mode all the way. For mixing live, Session View.
