Radiator Flush

My dad's car is starting to heat up when idling for short periods of time and he wants to drain out the coolant. He's got a Toyota and they got their own premium Toyota Red coolant. He's pretty old and brittle (that's what the Civil War does to you) and I wouldn't trust him with half a screw driver, so he asked me what I think about paying $60 for Toyota to a radiator flush.
I went online and saw lots of negative responses about radiator flushes, although all of these are embedded in consumer reports for Jiffy Lube and EZanaLube.
I would do it but I'm smoking pot in a different state of trance.

So he can either wait it out until I fly down there to do a drain/refill in 3 months. Or he can get the iffy-effective Radiator flush done for $60.

straight balling

actually, I don't think he should even be driving.

my old celica used to overheat like a mother******. had to refill coolant and antifreeze-shit (was in the middle of the winter) all the time. turned out the previous owner had used some instant-gasket crap instead of a $0.5 gasket when they changed the waterpump lol.

anyhoooooo, an overheating motor is not something one should take likely, and the cause can be one of so many reasons. tell your dad to get someone to take a look at the engine to see if there is something wrong.

Just tell your dad to reach for the lasers.

$60 sounds pretty steep just to have a radiator flushed.
Is this Toyota coolant only available from Toyota dealers/service centers? Does it really need to be this premium coolant?
