jesus.... I just read this story. 19.19 in the 200m?? 19.30 at the Olympics was considered "shattering" the record. Man this human gazelle is definitely taking something.

I've always wondered something about world track competitions-let's say you shatter the world record in the preliminary heat, but do not proceed past the semi finals for example. I'm assuming its possible to absolutely destroy a world record w/o even getting a medal if this is true. It seems like the in the vast majority of races in which people break records is in a final, so these cases aren't a common occurence.
