So You Wanted a Smart Car

Below is a photo of a wreck in Jefferson Parish, LA (near New Orleans ) between two trucks and a Smart Car. Think Ill pass on the Smart Car.

well at least the casket comes with the car, no way in hell they are pulling that body out..... might as well just bury the wreck.....
goddamn westbankers.........
/inside local talk
Dude, any fucking car would be completely screwed in that kind of situation. I didn't believe it, but SmartCars perform far better than most cars in your "average" accident. Head-on collisions and side collisions are top-notch. Here's proof:
"although the dummy's head did strike the steering wheel"
fuck off.

That pic must not have been taken in Amsterdam. All smart cars have been tossed by drunks in the water.

Smart cars are for fat people, and people who like to smell their own farts. If you are going to be that cheap, just man up and buy a ducati 990.
I'd rather get a table:

| Originally posted by ziptnf Like I said, it's not perfect, but it scored well on its tests. That side collision impact was done with a huge barrier, simulating an SUV. The Airbag did an excellent job of deploying and protecting the driver, and the head on collision had the car totally rebound from the barrier, with the damage not so bad. I had an argument with Ben (gehustmasomething) not too long ago about the safety of the Smartcar and he had some better videos/links. Is it safer than a Hummer? No. Is it safer than any other vehicle that size? Probably. |
ITT: angry fatties who can't fit in a SMART.
Seriously, if a smart hits a mid to full size, it loses.
If a mid to full size hits a huge pickup, it loses.
If a pickup hits a hummer, it loses.
If a hummer hits a big rig, it loses.
If a big rig hits a Caterpillar 797, it loses.
QED, we should all drive Caterpillar 797s, lest we all die in a terrible accident.
