Ice hockey is such an awesome game. I wish it was on television regularly here.
I never figured out what 'icing' was.
When I was a kid, I had this pretty generic NES ice hockey game, and I would always get called for 'icing,' but never knew what it was, or how to avoid it (it was pretty infuriating).
I kind of like the idea of not knowing after all these years, though, so I've generally avoided looking into it.

Ice hockey would be a better sport if you could see what the fuck was happening.

| Originally posted by Spam What, do you mean zooming out from the puck a little to watch how the entire team is playing? Such as how players react to their teammates movements and the position of the puck, rather than zooming in on the guy with the puck? |

| Originally posted by SYSTEM-J I saw it on the news a few years ago that sports networks were experimenting with putting visual effects on the puck so it would be easily distinguishable. The thing is too fucking small. The only way you can see it is, as you say, zooming right in on the player in possession. There's no visual spectacle in the game. That clip of the guy scoring with some outrageous flick was impressive... when I finally caught what he'd done on the fourth replay. |

| Originally posted by Spam I've never needed anything indicating where the puck is when I watch hockey, whether it's zoomed in, or zoomed out. There is a 'standard' camera angle that shows about a third of the ice at any given time, and the puck is quite easy to see, anywhere on the ice, unless it's moving incredibly fast, or along the near-boards. |

My biggest beef is usually that they don't zoom out ENOUGH from the action. I want to see what the whole team is doing at all times. I want to watch plays develop, not just the end result. |
