Wait, so now Charlotte is getting a good name that we aren't? Something's not right here no offense to Charlotte. I've noticed our scene has been kind of dormant lately which is why I haven't posted in a while. We get all the big ones like Tiesto and Ferry and then some fresh faces in the house scene, but we still are having some trouble getting the smaller trance names. Well, probably can't make a road trip, but hope he comes here.

Zach, i don't think charlotte has EVER gotten a trance artist booked that wasn't a well known star. We had Dj Micro get booked here years ago, but he was an american icon back then. Besides him we have never gotten any trance here besides the usual suspects...Ferry, Tiesto, Armin, Markus, BT, Acosta. This is a first for us to get such a powerful lesser known artist like this. Make the trip up man. Friday night for Gareth can't be beat.

Whoa-ho! I guess I failed to successfully pitch Atlanta when I spoke to Emery for about 1.5 seconds. But Charlotte? I mean, I'm glad you get an awesome producer in your town, Lostvission, but could you send him our way? He'd draw a decent crowd in Atlanta, and we'd even name a university after him.

I'm still sore that Ronski Speed skipped Atlanta to go to Austin. Austin! Their clubs are only open until 2am!

Only like a 3 hour drive up Calamar. The club is real nice man. Ill buy ya a Heineken.

Posted by trancension on Aug-26-2009 14:44:

Ya, The Forum is a pretty nice club.

If it wasn't a 4 hour drive, I'd go to it more often probably.

Also, it's still possible Gareth is stopping in Atlanta around this time. A lot of artists do it by region. So we might see Gareth on the 4th or 5th or maybe the following week. Liquified might be in talks with him, or they might just be waiting a bit before commenting on it.

Still 10 weeks away.

Haven't been more excited for a booking in Charlotte in a long time. Wolfgang was a surprise, but Gareth? here? fuck yeah. Plus we get Markus Schulz two fridays later.. Fucking stoked!

It's not so much that we're getting more "house" DJ's as much as we are getting a wider variety of DJ's in general. House is a much broader genre than trance. Desyn, Migs, Voorn, Aoki, Sasha - no two are anything alike (regardless of whether you like them) but they are all loosely defined as house. Trance DJ's are less dissimilar, both in mixing style and track selection. (No discredit to their production. Gareth is a very talented musician.)

Yeah, I know you guys have been getting a lot of the big names, but not many unique names to the area. I've watched the Charlotte scene grow a lot the past year or two. You guys get a lot of the people we get, and in this case, a great person we may not get. It's good for you guys and glad you can get to hear some of this stuff without driving 4 hours to Atlanta. I'd love to make the trip, but funds may not allow me too. Just got back into school.

I see what you're saying and I agree. There is a lot of variety in those names even though they probably play very similar stuff at times. I know a lot of trance djs do tend to play a lot of similar stuff. For example, I've seen at least 3 different djs play Big Sky in their set along with other songs that seem to make its rounds among the trance djs. As long as they are playing mostly different stuff and I'm enjoying it, I'm still rooting for more trance.
