Armada is bad for the scene

Look at the facts:
Schulz was amazing back in the day, when he joined armada he started to represent their "Iwannabearichpopstar" ideology. Where's the amazing prog trance that he was mixing and making? It's all because Armada, they want commercial mainstream shit from their artists, just to keep it No.1 at the beatport/audiojelly/trackitdown weekly charts.
I wonder what ever happened with those "armada" artists - Harry Lemon, Perry O'Neil, Interstate? Respect for them, seems like they decided to keep it real, keep it deep and proggy - not turning into mainstream cheesey shit.
And what about those Armada nights? They promote only 5 armada artists, that joke Glenn Morrison is on every single show, along with jlake (jlake ain't that bad as glenn is).

Armada is turning into a parasite for the scene, isn't it?

Labels aim to make money. Armada releases shit and makes money. Mission accomplished. Nothing to discuss, really.

Which scene? The mainstream dance scene? I think they're doing about as well as any mainstream dance label, although Ministry Of Sound is obviously still King & Tyrant.

If you're referring to the *snicker* 'underground epic trance scene', Armada hasn't been a part of that for years now. They've been pushing themselves to be top of the heap for a long while, and if that means flooding the market with easily digestible compilations for the masses like Hed Kandi used to, then that's their prerogative.

Its not Armada's fault, its the fault of the jerks who buy their stuff...its simple - if you buy good music you do good for the genre,if you buy bad music you do damage to the genre and you better off downloading it than ruining it for everybody.

We should start a "dont buy shit music - download it!" campign.

So we should convince people to download music that they think sucks instead of buying it. But if they think it sucks, why would they want to download it at all?

I never said THEY think it sucks ,THEY think its great.
But we get what we want - stopping the sponsoring of the ASOT fucktory.

I think promoting the notion of distribution and even buying of quality music will be far more productive in the long run than the downloading of toss-off music. At least, for those of us that want that kind of thing.

Armada will always appeal to the fresh faces in the overall scene, because that's their target audience. Eventually, those new fans will either burn out after they realize the music really is quite generic, or they've 'discovered' other genres like tech-house, jungle, or psy. Armada (and Cloud9 Music, which they seem to be joined at the hip in recent years) operates in much the same way as any run-of-the-mill euro-dance label, only they try to sell themselves as something more musically credible than ZYX or Polystar. It even worked until the last couple years...

Armada is shit..

armada puts out a lot of music under a lot of different sublabels and it is extremely narrow-minded to say that it all sucks. sure, the latest vocal cheesefest from armin might not be your cup of tea, but armada does a lot for discovering new artists within the world of trance. i appreciate it far more than something like, say, ultra or mos

Well, Way Out West is churning out a single for them...we'll have to see if the Armada curse gets them after 16 years in existence.

The moral of this thread is to get trance crackers to steal as much music as they can from labels you don't like.

Armada caters to the scene of people who like the type of stuff that Armada would put out. So, Armada is inherently good for it's "scene".

It has no real affect on the "scene" that I'm into, so I don't see why it's an issue.

I most certainly miss the days of "mc-prog". Listening to stuff from 2004, it doesn't compare to the stuff today.

Armada is bigger than China.
