Urban and Electronic music coming together???

So many DJs/artists are doing this now. Personally, I think it sucks. What do you guys think?

Music is music, the world has one thing in common and that's music. I don't see anything wrong with any collaboration of any genre.

Hell throw Gypsey Kings with Bob Sinclar...

The world is already divided by races, lets not divide it by music now too.

I respect Tiesto for this, maybe that's the background to where he got the name for his label "Musical Freedom"

I like both genres, but I like electronica more. I've always wondered what would happen if both genres crossed each other. It's finally happening now and the results are OKAY. The way hip hop was going last year with the autotune nonsense, it was slowly becoming more and more electronic. "when love takes over" is such a guilty pleasure track that you can't help but like it, even fully knowing that it's a Clocks/Speed of Sound ripoff from Coldplay.

I can see how others could have problems with it as the songs right now are aren't credible and are pretty "obvious" but this could bring more ppl into underground dance, just like Trance does.

I guess Euros & Americans are trying to catch up to what I have been doing for awhile now

I guess some Canadian djs are behind the times?

No shit. They're hybrids or remixes of hip hop (I couldn't find the right remix of the 2nd one, I picked the closest one I could find).

Also the Malpractice remix of T-Pain's "Low", I couldn't find that one on Youtube anywhere.

Your example is fine too, but it's more urban than electronic and it's pretty dated.

Edit: And out of something like 50,000 vids of Afrika you managed to pick the one with the worst possible sound quality, lol.

other than rapping there is nothing urban about the songs you posted digi

Planet Rock also contains more edm elements than urban imo. most people call Planet rock a dance song not a hip hop song

Even tho its a old song I dont think its dated it still sounds good

Serious note: If you've noticed ... recent RnB has some trancey synths and singing / lyrics repeats that they're using now. Its abit shocking but, thats the new thing. First heard it at a house party on NYE and I was shaking my head.

I guess it upsets you to find out that there are producers out there doing professionally what you've been chugging away at for years thinking you were some kind of pioneer. And that they're actually able to make decent hybrid tracks with mainstream appeal.

A lot of us here were or still are into hip hop or the urban scene. We aren't idiots. I'm pretty sure your knee-jerk reaction is a result of you simply not being used to electronic music, so anything that sounds even a little bit on the electronic side can't possibly be urban. This isn't 1982 anymore dude, musical tastes have changed.

You can have urban with electronic elements, or electronic music with urban elements, or something closer to the middle - it's all pretty similar.

It is True I mix different styles of music Trance is 1 of them

no one was fusing it really they might have used other edm songs(house dance freestyle etc) but not Trance

Trance is EDM. Hip hop is urban. In both cases the latter term refers to a wide range of music of which the former term is one subgenre.
