KORG EX 8000 any good? any one used one?
hello all. so i walked in to a 2nd hand store near by & came across this rack mount old school ''digitally controlled analog synth.'' it's going for a really good price @ South African rands R1000 or in euros around 120 euros.
it's in exellent condition considering it's 25 years old! with original manual foot controller & cables. so was just wondering if any one could say whether i should grab it or not?
will it give some nice analogue sounds i can use in my trance productions?
would love to get a acess virus but living in a 3rd world country, cash is low so, could this be a start to build up a collection of analogue synths, like would it be useful for a specific use like pads, bass...?
thanx for any info you can provide. Jason. SA.
never used one before but it seems to have good reviews

I've never owned one, but I do remember wanting a DW-8000 (keyboard version of the EX-8000) when it was released. I played it in the store on several occasions and I knew a few guys in other bands that had one. Going from memory, I can't really recall exactly what it sounded like, but I have no doubt that it would be usable for EDM today. However, I do remember that, like many synths made in the mid-late 80s, it was largely menu driven and not the easiest to program. You may be able to find a patch editor for it though.
