Nick Cenik - Drugs [tech house]
Hi folks.
Please take a second to check out a new tech house tune that I've been working on for the past 3 weeks or so.
Nick Cenik - Drugs (Original Mix):
I'd really appreciate some feedback!
Thanks in advance,
Nick.
The track had a nice groove to it.
The elements which are there are well produced. I did think the track sounded a bit empty and needs a few more layers both synths/riffs and percs.
At the moment the track kinda plods along and lacks a little bit of excitement for me personally.
But so far so good.

Hey nick!
Thanks very much for the constructive feedback. I seem to struggle with 'filling out' my tunes.
Cheers for listening
I don't really think the thunder/rain sample fits this type of track, although it's just my opinion.
Some really good FX in here, I like the build ups. I'd like to hear more percussion work, as it's quite dry right now.
Anyway, it's coming along nicely!
the kick sounds really weak. needs more punch and low end. same goes with the bassline..
i think some nice congas etc. would go nicely in this track..
i like the vocals.. or i like the sound of them.. very ironic and funny..
most of the elements are very on beat, try to shuffle it up and throw in some offbeat 16th's in there, and just go to town with the perc.
nice tune agree wih filling it out more maybe add more variation to it make it less repetitive. the rising pitch effect is that a sample or did you use a synth for that? heard it in a few techno tracks and it sounds exactly the same just wondering if its a sample.
Thanks very much for taking the time to check out the tune and leave some feedback guys!
I'm surprised at the comment re: the kick being weak. The kick seems to pound on my monitors, the sub in my car, and the 5.1 system in my living room. The bassline does lack low-end though, that's for sure. There's so much going on in the low-end with the kick and sub-bass that I didn't want to have the bassline muddying things up.
As for the rising pitch effect, I designed a patch from scratch using NI Massive. It took me a while to figure out how to get the sound exactly as I wanted but I'm happy with the results (one of the keys was using multiple OSCs set to different octaves thus allowing the build to sound multidimensional).
lol "drug criminals"
Reminds me of Traffic. Great movie.
