Exclamation Don't Text & Drive...

Well once in a while in a deviation from all the fun of this forum....something serious...

This video scared the bejesus out of me! More so than most of the anti-drunk-driving videos out there!

Very hypocritical of myself since I txt'n'drive ALL the time, but I have caught myself sometimes looking at my phone to complete a text only to look back up and barely miss rear ending a car in front of me braking or swerving into the other lanes... regardless how safe of a driver you think (say) you are, we've all done it.

I don't think this was posted here yet (did a search, no results...), but figured it was something worthwhile of posting, even if it only stops one of two of us from doing this and possibly saving not only our own lives but others on the road.

It's pretty bam in your face, especially the middle part, almost got sick to my stomach at 1:58, not entirely gruesome but impacting and shocking... so be prepared.

Like most "anti" videos, you'll probably still do it, myself included, but maybe watching this will make us think twice about it before doing so and possibly (hopefully) wait till you're at a safer spot or wait for a safer time to reply to that text! Or realize that text/person is not THAT important to reply to imediately while merging onto the highway or navigating that 5pm rush hour traffic on the way home.

Her friends would still be alive if that cheap bitch bought a safer car than a Ford Ka.

On a serious note, when I got my current phone I actually stopped texting while driving because I can't touch-type with my thumb on a QWERTY keyboard, heh.

Also lol at her Ka being silver and the one doing the crashing is dark grey, and the Mondeo is clearly stationary during that overhead shot. PRODUCTION VALUES AHOY!

Die b*tches die! Stupid b*tches!

Ppl who txt and drive deserve this ... Really they do! So many car accidents occur from talking on the phone, txting is 1000x worse.

I stopped txting 4 yrs ago, I noticed I was focusing on KB more then anything.

I'm a pretty geeky guy when it comes to gadgets, and I embrace technology with a passion. Even I know this idiocy of texting while driving, never mind talking on the cell phone too. I can't believe ppl think they have such talents that they can momentairy take their eyes/attention off the road (over and over) because they have to text out a message instead of waiting. I even heard from a co-worker that my brother-in-law came close to hitting another vehicle in front of him just because he was texting while driving the company truck.

I remember driving the Gardener during traffic one morning to see a woman texting while driving. Each time she stopped, then the traffic pulled froward in front of her, there would be at least a 6 to 10 car lengths gap in front of her b4 she noticed. This continued over and over and I had enough and beeped my horn and gestured for her to keep her eyes on the road.

Being a parent of two kids, it was more sad for me to hear the girl saying she wished her mom and dad would wake up.

Nothing better than to start your morning off with a cry.

next time I see a douchetard on a bike talking/txt'ing, going in the opposite direction on a one way street, I'm kicking him off the bike

Indeed it is

Sad

oh dear god, 1:58 minute made my heart ache

Strong message but they sensationalized the crash too much. Comes off as a bit cheesy.

But yeah, texting while driving is probably the stupidest thing you could do, apart from women doing their make-up on the go or something.

This kinda reminds me of some guy in front of me on HWY 7 who kept dozing off while going at least 90 kliks. He was jerking his van wildly into the adjacent lanes each time he woke up/snapped out of it.
We hit a red light and I got out and told him to either wake up or get the fuck off the road.
He stayed on but I didn't see him driving like an idiot after that.

Yeah he sure is chillin.

It's still reckless, though... one decent sized pebble could send him wobbling.

1. Die.
2. No, we haven't all done it. You're just an idiot.

I don't care how that comes across. People who (try to) text and drive are near the very top of my shit list.

Wow! Thanks for that... fair enough on your convictions, but maybe you missed the purpose of the post which was to ackknowledge that people do this, that I do it myself, and hopefully people who do text and drive (again, including myself) will remember not to or think twice before attempting to next time... but thanks for the kinds words asshole!

Driving a 6-speed my hands are constantly busy. I don't text while driving at all and as for talking on the phone I use my handsfree system. If for some reason the system is not enabled I may have a quick conversation between shifts in the case that it is an emergency (it hasn't yet been).

Even while cruising consistently along the 401 at 110 km/h?
