Talking I'm getting this soon... Tell me what u think!

Go here: http://www.sonystyle.com/home/scat....554&scatid=9554

I'm either getting the D-CJ506CK or the D-CS901. Does anyone have any experience with these models? I know that the '01 model (SONY's first MP3-CD player) sucks because it can't FF or REW... I hope that these other models DO FF/REW, because it would REALLY suck if they didn't!

I hear sonys mp3 cd players are top of the line. but if I were you I would get a hard drive based mp3 player. I used to own an mp3 cd player, albeit a super cheap/shitty one, but it got me through. When i switched to hard drive based I was soo happy, no more changing cds and a lot of them are a lot smaller. the ipod is great even if you have a pc, if you need more than 10 gigs my freind has a jukebox which is quite nice too.

Sony products are not worth the money... from my experiences with them, they're designed to last you about a year and two days and then break down

Rio is the best way to go for portable MP3 CD players...

I'm NOT looking for a HDD-based system. Why not? If the drive gets full, you have to delete stuff in order to add new files, JUST like a Flash memory-based player. Also, I heard from 5 people, that when you drop the HDD-based players, ALL OF THE DATA'S GONE! This has happened to them on 4 different players, each a different make/model.

I back all of my MP3s up on CD-RW. Also, to the other replier, I'm experienced with SONY CD players. Every one of them that I had, never went down on me! They LAST. So, this MP3-CD player's perfect for me...

I always prefered Panasonic offerings in portable audio domain than Sony's... Better sound and build quality usual. But Sony is mighty fine too I guess... The sole difference between the Panasonic andsony mp3 player is that the Panasonic one does not recognises the ID3 tags

I know about this model. There are TWO reasons why I may not get it:

1. NO G-PROTECTION (which means that it IS possible to make it skip)
2. No screen on the UNIT (You NEED the remote control to see what you're doing!).

But, other than that, that's an excellent unit!!!

Ghost Smilie

i would like to get that.. only if it had better quality for batteries.. and better headphones.. or earphones..

other then that i would.. like.. mp3s none stop.. come on.. enspcialy for the traveler on foot.. oh of corse

I do think the price is worth it.. cuz.. like.. you get dubble the job for a typical looking cd player with extra buttons.. so realy..

i would just wait a tad.. till somthing better comes out..

i doo have one.. citizen theo.. sorta fucked up

the one that GRuby has showen is nice.. like.. it's SEXY.. but.. sorta .. afraid i'll brake it..

Don't even get me started about Sony, I finally broke down and bought a R-500 MD player this spring and it worked fine for about...oh...*3 MONTHS* before the laser lens took a nice fat crap...that was the first *and LAST* MD player I'll buy from them

Not to mention their lovely Playstation game boxes...christ, let me think, I owned *3* of the original ones because of, again, a laser lens malfunction that caused skipping and my PS2 stopped playing DVD's correctly after about 6 months...

Posted by displaced on Jun-29-2002 18:57:

i try to avoid sony cuz they're overpriced and i swear they get generic manufacturers to crank them out and slap their logos on them, cuz every sony product i owned (walkman, discman, md player) came apart soon after the warranty expired... i stuck with it (sony) cuz of the "brand name" but gave up once i realized the product quality overall sucked.

personally, i'd get the the rio volt.

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on Jun-29-2002 19:37:

I don't understand why you guys are bashing Sony, almost every electronic device I have in my house is a Sony and I don't have any problems with them. The only electronics I have that aren't Sony are my CD player (Aiwa) and my MP3 player (Rio).

Posted by fastmp3 on Jun-29-2002 21:14:

besides , sony's mp3 players are crappy ...

ali if u can't get the slimx , then get the rio MP250

Can someone PLEASE close this thread soon? SONY makes the best portable CD players because of the G-PROTECTION (NOT ONE SKIP WHILE VIABRATION!!!!) and THAT'S IT! All other portable CD players CAN AND WILL SKIP because G-PROTECTION is the ONLY thing that will TRULY PREVENT SKIPPING!

i was talking about mp3 players

i was not talking about discman

and fine go buy ur crappy sony , why am i losing my time giving u some advises ? if it's to get this type of reaction then fuck off

Posted by fieroavian on Jun-30-2002 04:42:

Smoking ..umm..something

heh, you asked for our opinions, so they did, and you you're asking to close the thread 'cos you can't stand people criticizing Sony's products?

sony products indeed have a reputation of lasting about 18 months, but i'm still gonna buy stuff from sony. matter of fact, i've been a slave of sony for years just bought this MZ-N1 netMD player from japan earlier this year...

i bought the blue one. it's so small it even fits into my jeans' rear pocket. and to answer your question, i think that sony D-CS901 is quite neat -- if you don't mind carrying that in your hand (which is kinda clumsy) or fanny pack. it has an advantage over minidisc too: CD-Rs are dirt cheap, while minidiscs are for US$2 in north america (what a shame, and that's why i bought a dozen of blank MDs during my trip )

Posted by QuickStep on Jun-30-2002 11:58:

Best g-protection is a Brazilian wax. hahahahah

dude, I like sony for some things here and there, but damn let people bash it if they want. I've had my horror stories about sont products too and definitely do not want to get into those stories!

fastmp3, that's one sweet ass player! damn, is that US available?

that's the one i'm getting, just ordered it yesterday from amazon.com for about $162, can't wait!!! you can find reviews of people jogging with this baby without a single skip. as for remote... well, i can always buy a replacement for just $30

you also can find reviews of people bashing RIO because their players break for no reason and skip too.
