Any Zebra2 users here?

Not that I need any more synths, but I've noticed that Zebra2 gets a lot of talk on other, more general, music forums (e.g., KVR, gearslutz), but I don't see it mentioned much on EDM forums. It seems like a pretty powerful and well-supported synth. I don't have a modular soft synth, so I may have to give the demo a go. Anybody here using it? What are its pros/cons? Any issues/bugs? How do you think it compares to something like Reaktor (if you've used it)?

Are the two really comparable?

Reaktor seems much more extensively modular to me, just judging from the Zebra web page.

Good question - I don't own Reaktor either, but yes it does seem on the surface like a deeper synth than Zebra from what little I know of the two.

I own Reaktor and have used it a pretty good bit. I would call it more a "synth-building environment" rather than just a modular synth. Reaktor itself comes bundled with lots of synths that were built from scratch using Reaktor's own components, and you can modify those synths at a very deep level or build your own.

Zebra does look nice, though, and it also sounds good from the few samples I have heard.

That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!

Yeah, the samples for Zebra really do sound impressive. I've got a long holiday weekend with not much going on other than watching college football and a BBQ or two, so I may have to spend some time with the demo!

You mean something other than Zebra? I haven't heard anything about it.

I think he is talking about Bazille: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-hZQ-lxUxM

Zebra2 user here!
Reaktor 5 rocks also but its a PCU hog!
Zebra2 uses less PCU and it sounds sweet!

I bought Zebra2 on a whim and I haven't really been impressed by it. It has lots of features, but the sound just isn't that great. In that sense, it is somewhat like Z3ta+ - a quantity over quality synth.

Bazille looks pretty nice, but I'm still intrigued by Zebra.

awseme synth if you enjoy tweeking and playing around then get it i have been making sounds even i was shoked with.

but then i'm a hands on type of producer and can sit for hours untill i create what i want for my track.
so i think this will suit your style

This is my favourite synth. It sounds awesome in the mix and can be as complicated or simple as you want to make it.

Zebra seems like a strange Absynth bastard, I don't particularly fancy the general color of its sound for trance production, though I believe amazing stuff could be made out of it, I just couldn't find a particular niche in my line of production for it.

Adam Van Baker is the reason why i have Zebra 2 on my DAW!

i absolutely love it...

i'm not a synth expert, so i supppose my perception can be taken lightly, but it's definitely one of my 'in every track' synths, great for bass, and occasionally leads

it's the best soft-synth i have i would say. (although the only other softsynths i really use these days are predator, arturia's moog modular and massive as i have a TI and use it for most of the serious stuff...)

I just "replaced" my Prophet 08 with Zebra2! Actually, U-he has a deal where you send in a photo of a classic (or destined to be classic) synth next to a little printout of saying that this synth was replaced by Zebra, and they knock $50 off the price of Zebra! (of course, you don't really have to replace it).

Anyway, after spending some time with the demo this weekend, I decided that I definitely need this. It may well end up rivaling Gladiator 2 as my favorite soft synth. I love the modular nature of this thing - it's very versatile, and the sound is incredible! Excellent filters, waveshaping capabilities, great effects, etc. I definitely recommend checking it out!

If you really want to get an idea of the sound of this synth for EDM, check out the demo that atxbigballer1 posted, and google the arksun zebra bank and give his demos a listen.

yep the synth you speak of is so diverse to use and i found making your own sounds out of it just fantastic and pairs well with any other synth. just wait untill you get deeper with the software
