two quick questions
in your opinion, what's the biggest club for edm in canada? what's the best club for edm in canada?
oh lookie who we have here
Biggest? Guvernment in Toronto most likely. Maybe Circa if it's still open though I've never been to Circa
Best? That's debatable. I would say Stereo in Montreal now that it's open again and hopefully will stay open. Guv is good on a good night, but can be hit or miss. Footwork in Toronto is also quality.
Montreal is missing another big club option since Aria started to shit the bed years ago. Circus doesn't bring in international names (I know that they intentionally book locals, which is good in a way - never been there myself though).

i haven't been clubbing in south beach in ages. i dont really have any hookups any more and the thought of going to a club and waiting in a line for 45 minutes to pay $20+ to enter repulses me.
but from what i hear, the popular ones in miami are Mansion, Bed, Set and of course Space, and that's all I can think of. Cameo probably brings in some big acts but i'm sure it's stuff like David Guetta and Carl Cox.

LA has tons of bars/lounges that play dance music now, especially in the downtown area. In addition to that we have loads of promoters trying to do the underground thing and throw warehouse style parties. In terms of clubs we have Avalon, The Vanguard and Circus. Circus was one of the first clubs to bring in dance music back in 99/00, but since around 03 or 04 (when they kicked out their major promoter to start their own) they've been in a steady decline and now it's a pretty big shithole. The Vanguard and Avalon pretty much vie for the top spot on Saturday nights, but which one is better is debatable. Depends on who's playing really. Vanguard's promoter is Giant, and they USED to bring in quality acts but now it's all big room tech house/cheesy shit whereas Avalon has been bringing in a lot more relevant/forward thinking DJs. I prefer Avalon to Vanguard based simply on club size and sound system, it's massive and the sound system is a million dollar + custom job. Vanguard DOES have a Funktion One but no one ever tunes it and it tends to sound like shit.
The crowd at Avalon tends to be kinda shitty, lots and lots of old Asian people for whatever reason. They like to stay up front by the booth/stage in a group and sway back and forth. It's very strange. Vanguard's crowd isn't much better, full of LAs version of Guidos...not exactly sure what to call them really. MMA type guys that wear way too much Affliction and Ed Hardy with their equally looking douchey girlfriends.
