The year of tech trance and hard trance?????

Well this year seems so far to be a huge year for trance, and IMO the year of trance is back. Sod 99 bring on 2002.

With a huge selections of great tracks at the mo, im personally loving going out at the weekends to clubs like gatecrasher and festivals organised by the super clubs

And now i hear a lot of tech trance and hard trance. I personally love this kinda style, along with uplifting trance, so when someone like armin van buuren and ferry step up, and then we have other djs playing this kinda stuff all night im in heaven.

So is this the year of trance????

I cant wait the ibiza season is comming round so expect a huge amount of new trance flooding the scene

Opinions??

Tech trance and hard trance, or in yr country is it totally different??

I wanna know

Trance will never be that big in Toronto as it once was for a short period of time (and even then it wasn't that big, relatively speaking), but long live the Junglist and Breaker scene here.

Ughhhhhhhh.

*insert puke emoticon here*

I really have to get out of this country.

I think its going to be break trance, just like the stuff Paul Oakenfold is playing at the moment

Cool

imo 2000/2001 was more tech trance, but with only a few to name:

signum - first strike/in progress
liquid dj team - liquidation
rank 1 - such is life (r1 deep dub + marco v remix)
tiesto - 643
katana - fancy fair
boca - miami
marco v - godd

wtf! tech trance??? In my book that stuff is just Trance!

it has nothing in common with techno

If it's anything like what AVB last spun last time I saw him, I'm there! (A more Progressive sound).

colour me nostalgic...

releases this year (so far) have been on par with the last 2 years, but still no match to those from 1999, IMO. think Hybrid's "Wide Angle" and BT's "Movement in Still Life" albums! think Deepsky's "Stargazer"! i just hope there'll be knockout tunes in the second half of the year.

hard trance maybe, but tech-trance? producers like Maurice Starecase Steve Porter? give me more examples.

my logic is drawn from what ive been hearing when ive gone out this year...

the trancy trance is going slowly downhill, being replaced with a harder sort of trance, yet still trancy.

lol if that makes sense ur a fekkin genius..

the hard stuff has been outstanding here in the UK this year, more and more ppl are playing it. the so called hard house dj's are playing what they call 'funky hard house' when in fact its just hard trance with a few HH elements every now and again.. techno is becoming more popular too.. thus the new breed of 'tech-trance'.. not techno, but trance with a techy sound to it (proxi )

basically, over here, the harder DJs have performed well, where the trancey dj's havent really done that well. except armin heheheh

Tek-Trance???

I thought that tek-trance was:

Psychogene with I love techno, space cruising, ...
Sven vath with Design music, l'Esperanza, ...
Laurent Garnier with Flashback, the remix of Silverscreen, ...
... ... ...

Let me know :-)

See every year, the media dubs it the year of "insert genre here" and supports it. 2000 was hard house and 2001 was progressive but really it was trance that was still there and still big. Not that kind of other stuff. I could'nt care what the media says, they have said trance is dead for yrs and guess what, it keeps getting bigger and bigger.

You also could say that techno is growing with certain deejays playing more techno tracks in their sets. Tech House is growing again also, you hear more and more techno deejays playing tech house.

Marco V's production style is the hot shit right now.

Stereotypical tech-trance tune:

Tankis & Savietto - Octopus (Original mix)

Marco V is on the rise, his album sampler is hot, atlanta is just so evil and revolt so energetic.

I heard someone label Picotto and Marco V as Nu-Techno, these sub-genres are getting out of hand!

I'll settle for jeff mills anytime over tech trance or tech house.
