sounds good. I saw SOS a few weeks ago and it was the worst set I've ever heard. Desyn didn't even give shit he was just on his phone all night posting stuff on twitter. Wanker.
He showed up randomly today at a local event (Tiga, Beyer, Buttrich, Audiofly, etc.) here in Montreal and did the same thing. A dozen of people seemed to like it.
Yeah, at Electric Zoo i was just expecting some insane house, which is what he played for the first 1/2 hour. But after it was all dnb and, while not bad, me and many others were disappointed.
Maybe hes bored with house?
any desyn dnb sets?
Good news. I hope proving people's genre expectations wrong becomes a trend.
You didn't miss much if you wanted to hear him play house. I saw him three nights ago and all he played was boring goomba stomp house. Left after just over an hour.
My first time ever seeing Desyn, and although it was unexpected, it was still pretty fresh... it's definitely one of those sets that will be talked about for a while onwards. I can't complain that much, I met a girl during the set, LOL.

I enjoyed it. Wasn't typical Drum n bass either. It was like melodic prog drum n bass haha. I thought it was cool and different.
Wasn't his Electric Zoo promo house?
I was at Steve Bug when this happened, but it sounds like a cool move. I wish more quasi famous DJ would take risks like this more often.
i saw deep dish on the space terrace during wmc2006 and they played dnb for the last hour or so of their show. alot of house djs secretly love dnb.
I saw Desyn on Friday and he played a lot of really boring stuff. A dnb set would have been interesting to see.

I'm all for different genre playing/exploring, DJs like Howells, Garnier, Francois K, etc, but I'd be pretty disappointed too if I went to see a DJ known for "his" sound and he pulls a left turn.
A lot of DJs could learn from incorporating different genres into their set though. Really helps with peaks/vibe changes.

I'll have to upload the video I took of Desyn to YT, I just have it on my Facebook... it was him playing some more melodic prog though, not the D&B. I was browsing YT for videos and there's actually one of Desyn making the transition between 4x4 and D&B.

Imagine if your favorite DJ decided to move towards a direction you dislike. If Desyn gradually moved into DnB, all good. At least there was a few hours of his signature house that you enjoyed. Totally disregarding his house fanbase though...disappointing. |

If this is ever gonna change, someone has to dare to buck the trend and risk playing other kinds of music that people may not like. A proper DJ isn't afraid to throw down the tune that has a 50/50 chance of clearing the dancefloor. |
