What do I need to create Trance music?

What do I need to create Trance music? I'd like to create some trance music, but I'm not even sure where to start. I'm a radio DJ so I know some about mixing but I need to know what software or DJ gear I need to do this. I know there is some software, Sony trance NRG, and Sony Acid Loops, but I'm not sure what else I need for this. I'd like to start DJing nightclubs and gigs as well so creating and playing trance and electronica music could go hand in hand.

You need to go to the correct forum:

Then read the stickied topics. Should contain just about everything you need.

Basics:
A decent computer...and a good DAW.

I suggest checking out the demo of Ableton Live. And demo some soft synths.

Just start slow and do some research and youll get there. It takes time.

Oh yeah...and try looking for help in the producers forum too. This is the DJ forum.

Goodluck.

Look through there. It gives you the basics of setting up a home shop. basically tho get a sequence program (ableton live, FL studio...) some vsts (nexus, z3ta...) and a midi or usb keyboard. A good pc or mac is def important too..after you get these done, then u can start to add hardware later on

you need unicorns, rainbows and glowsticks. eventually the music will make itself.

I downloaded the Ableton Live 8 demo, it's a lot of material to take in, I have an ok idea of how you do things with it but I still need to learn more before I even think of composing material.

Okay. This forum is still for DJ's though.

fuck no, start with FL not Ableton. I tried to do what you're doing and it was a bad idea. Ableton is just not nice to beginners. Plus, the FL demo is fully functional (I think) with the excepetion of some minor functions.

Also, Ableton doesn't accept glowsticks or unicorns but FL does. AFAIK rainbows are pretty universal so you shouldn't have a problem.

Ok cool, I'll download the Fruity Loops demo also and see how it is. Yes Abletoin is very confusing.
I have sound editing experience from my College Communications work and my black metal music work, so the experience I have should supplement some of what I'm doing.
