What soundcard do I need? (8 out * 6 in)
I've been looking to improve upon my DJ setup for some time, and I know excactly what I want. The problem is I don't know what that is
My setup currently consists of a 5-channel mixer, with two turntables and a MIDIcontroller connected to Traktor 3, controlling deck A and B.
What I would want is to also connect my turntables to Traktor 3 through TC vinyl, controlling deck C and D, connected to the line inputs on the same mixer channels my turntables are connected to. For this purpose I need an external sound card capable with 8 line outputs and 6 line inputs, since I also want to record my sets to the computer obv. I've been looking at two sound cards that can do this, The NI Audio 8, and the Focusrite Saffire LE. The problem with the Saffire is that it is FireWire only, is there any way to connect it to USB still? And will the Audio 8 work in this way?
And, does anyone else know of any other USB external soundcards with these specs?
On a second note, since the sound from the vinyl is in phono, will the soundcard still be able to pick up the signal from the vinyl even if it uses line inputs? Or do I need a soundcard with phono inputs as well?
That is all, thx ;P
With this setup I think I just might have the best setup ever, all I need now is CDJs as well... and better turntabels... and a better mixer... and a good FX unit... and a drummachine... and decent monitors... and headphones that are not taped together...and strobe lights...
Echo Audiofire 8? or maybe 12 aswell. great devices. firewire.
btw with that many channel u might want to stay away from usb.
when it comes to phono signal some soundcards have mic preamps but i dont know if thats good enough or even the right signal for 1210s.
the audio8 is the only card you listed with phono inputs. get it.
Your only choice is the NI Audio 8 DJ as you need that or a Traktor Scratch certified mixer to use the timecode on Traktor Scratch.
And, no it's not possible to connect a FireWire soundcard to USB and make it work.
