Satan (eek!) Ziptnf - Taijitu Returns **DOUBLE MIX** [dark/uplifting psytrance]

Hey, back again with more Yin/Yang battles for your listening pleasure! Both of these are pretty banging, Yin's Revenge blasts some night full-on and progresses to some serious darkpsy. Last time, Yang was a little too happy, so I removed the cheese completely. It's more full-on, but still very uplifting!

Click here for more information on the concept of the Yin/Yang Dragons.

I'll have a listen. Tracklist looks pretty unique.

Posted by ziptnf on Sep-12-2009 13:55:

Just to point out, some of the darkpsy-oriented tracks like to get a half-step out of sync (with all the reversing and repeating kicks), so there were two noticeable sync problems on Yin's Revenge. I tried to fix those on the fly, and I hope it doesn't sound too terrible. I haven't had a listen yet, hope it's enjoyable!

Yang's Redemption looks awesome!

Thanks.

grabbin both sets right away!

Posted by ziptnf on Sep-13-2009 08:54:

Thanks for the downloads! I've heard both sets, and I gotta admit, there are bad transitions in both of them, but I think the content is pretty solid. Hope you all liked them, these two sets are utter beasts!

Posted by Magadansky on Sep-13-2009 09:47:

I am at work now so I cant download them but judging by the tracklist this looks like your best two sets (btw noticing that you still used Holographic Image ). Going to grab them this night and listen them right away!

I'm so bummed about Ignotus Scienta, that single track caused me to trainwreck twice (fucking off-sync half-steps ). What can you do, I guess, the music is good (I hope) so pay attention to that rather than my lame mixing skillz

Just finished listening to Yang's Redemption. Damn it was nice! Full on as you know isnt my beloved area but this set is so nice that I did rave a lot while listening! Before I speak more deeply about it I have to say that I listened to it while playing warcraft3 and it felt really good!

So, the good points? The energy just bursts out of everywhere, every next track is more powerful than the other and it delivers much goodies. Flow was perfect, no complains! Nicely chosen playlist, it did for certain the needed effect and in that area the set was much better than the previous yang (and actually than most of your full on sets, only Frequency surge was that good). The best track from me was the one at 60 min mark. As an addition, you just can not imagine how many times I was dancing in my chair, jumping and raving!

The bad points! Well, you know it coming... Some of the transitions were not so good, there were some key clashes, some hasty ones and some that drained a bit the energy which the previous tracks had delivered but it was quickly restored!

Moving now to the Yan's Revenge, I suspect that this would be even better, considering my likings towards the darker area of full on psy. Yang's however was very, very good! This took you so much time but I think it was worth it, cheers for that!

I have to quote this, and say that I'm shocked that I made you dance! I'm so glad that you like it! Btw, Warcraft II > Warcraft III

Excellent, that's what I was going for, more of a full-on feel, but with a happier tinge. I did feel a comparison to Frequency Surge with the energy and the sounds, but the melodies set the two apart.

When I listened to it, I feel the same way, there were indeed a few key clashes, and one point where I heard a transition and said aloud "boy, that killed all the energy." Some of them were a tad quick, but with full-on, it sounds silly to keep transitioning during a minor breakdown (the area with no kicks, right before it goes into an energetic portion). I suppose that's why so many people think I have quick transitions lol

Cheers! I hope Yin's Revenge blows your skull all over the room, and I apologize beforehand about the trainwrecks in the 4th track.

I couldnt listen to the whole set since I have to shut down the computer soon but this track, this track... Those trainwrecks mean nothing compared to that track which was awesome and truly deserves to shine in this set. Plus, until now (~50 min) I have to say this set really kicks ass and is your best one up to date. Why? Since it is dark but still melodic and diverse. The second track was lighter but the rest really dig mind holes while in the same time are euphoric and melodic. Perfect track selection here by you! Flow - awesome so far, only the mixing was below decent but as I mentioned this is compensated by the excellent track selection. Awesome work!

Darkpsy is pretty hard to mix, I'm not really used to it. I had several bad transitions, more than I would like. Maybe in the future I could get used to it... but you gotta finish the set! Past 50 minutes is where I start playing really insane music... when I was listening to it, I said to myself "there isn't a single person on this planet who could like this fucking music" lol. My girlfriend had a "dear god make it stop" moment when she was listening to Modulation, which comes in at around 57 minutes. You have some more madness to listen to, I suggest you take a dip into the part where few have been

Thanks for listening!

Bump... any more listeners? This mix isn't THAT bad... last Taijitu went to 5 pages lol

Posted by smekzg on Sep-16-2009 20:04:

I'm DL-ing Yin's Revenge.

i will download Yang tomorrow and i'll get back to you when i listen to them both.

looks awesome

I just did I and I have to say that I liked the first half more. It went WAY too fast in the end for my taste. It really pierces holes through skulls! Pretty insane stuff, probably I just didnt listen them to the right time but atm they dont appeal to me.

I'm sure if you listened to it straight through it would have been better, simply because you can understand the progression a bit more. I must say, it's most definitely not my favorite style of music to play, it becomes a tad obnoxious past Modulation. My favorite track on that whole set was Brainwash - Music for Massives. I prefer that type of dark psytrance as opposed to darkpsy. While they're both pretty intense, the former is more listenable than the latter. That's why I say "nobody on this planet could possibly like this music"

I am almost positive you will prefer Yang this time around, Yin gets a little insane toward the end. I know you listened to the original Taijitu on your bike ride last time, and it would probably be preferable to hop on a bike this time; your energy will be pumping the whole time!

I hate being critical of another DJ's work... but you are right about the bad transitions in Yin's Revenge, far too many for a mix you planned to release and some (not all) are complete trainwrecks, which is a downer because you had AWESOME track selection in that mix, but the poor transitions made it very difficult (for me) to listen to the set in its entirety.(even though I did, haha)

I'd love for you to re-mix it and try to nail those transitions as it would be a fantastic dark set (except for the last 6mins).

Hope you don't take my review to harshly.

Nah, no worries, I know that I had way too many bad transitions, and if I had the time, I would have practiced them all more and made sure that there were gonna be no issues.

The very last track also had a beatgridding problem (darkpsy can never seem to find a steady rhythm), so I know that Ignotus Scienta wasn't the only track that screwed me over. I feel like I can fix most of the trainwreck issues in the future just by prelistening at the cue just a little longer before starting to turn up the volume at making sure that the beatgrid is in place, although there are plenty of spots where it can get thrown off without warning... perhaps my cue placement is something to consider?

My mixing skills are issues for most of my mixes, and I fault that with experience. Darkpsy was a completely new and uninhabited genre that I had never worked with (not even on the last Yin, that was just night full-on) and I didn't even practice my transitions beforehand. Yang's Redemption was far more up my alley with mixing styles, and I had a few ones that were a little too hasty but overall no totally obvious issues.

Hopefully in the future I can spend a little more time on my transitions before spinning it, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoyed the tracks and my set progression at least...

Most definitely dude! Loved the track selection and progression..

I'm kinda bummed though, because I feel like the bad transitions made it a terrible set, even if the tracks were good. The set wasn't even enjoyable because of the mixing and I know that I'm a better DJ than that. Kinda ripping myself apart for this, sorry folks, I'm just embarrassed. I shouldn't have released it.

I wouldn't get to upset about it man... It's just music!
