Federal Election Looms: Who would you vote for?

There stands to be a be a very good chance that there will be a vote of non-confidence this Friday in Ottawa. I know there will be some serious flaming in this thread but I would be interested to see the results of this poll.

Pirate Party.

Without hearing any of the platforms for the parties its hard to say who I would vote for. At this time I will be voting liberal...simply because they stand the best chance at ousting Harper. I would consider the CPC if Harper wasn't the leader.

edit: I am already sick of the attack adds by the CPC. I can't believe people are actually swayed by these tactics.

Liberal. Harper needs to go!

Although my vote is useless in Alberta lol Last election I was one of very few who voted Liberal in my riding, let alone in the whole Province :P

I really miss living in Alberta.

I like how the CPC bar is in red and the Liberal bar is in blue for the poll.

If I could vote, liberal.

If a green vote wouldn't be a bit of a waste, Elizabeth would get mine. Next election, I will be a citizen, Green will have more standing and she will get my non-wasted vote then

Mountains and low taxes are the only things I like about Alberta. I can't wait to move after school lol

No vote is ever a wasted vote dear. For every vote a party receives the party receive about $1.50 per year, per vote until the next election.

I voted for Green once. But I can openly say I'm a card carrying conservative now, not that really should come as any surprise if you have read my posts in any other politically charged thread. But I didn't want to start this thread with bashing other parties.

Is your permanent residence Alberta? If not, then your vote is suppose to be for the riding your permanent residence is in.

He can proxy his vote to a relative or trusted individual who he trusts can honestly vote on his behalf. But the vote must be cast in the riding.

I noticed that right away too, I tried to edit but only mods can change a poll thread. Oh well, just colors.

I will likely vote conservative.

That being said, Iggy has been thoroughly Americanized and may just be more conservative than Harper is. As far as I know, not even Harper supports torture, but Iggy does.

Well you peaked my interest. Please explain.

My local MP is a very active member of Right to Life and completely opposes same sex anything.

I could never ever put my vote behind someone like that. His office called the other day to see if they could count on our support if there was an election... I was very happy to provide them with a very big NO.

God forbid the Conservatives ever got a majority and the abortion debate was reopened. I do not lose sleep over much but if I played any part in the right to choose being taken away - I don't even know what I would do.

My vote will go to Iggy.

I really, really, really hope we don't have an election though. I am good with the $200 million price tag finding a better use.

I'm stunned so many are supporting Harper.

let's see...

Senate Reform? fail. Harper just stacked the Senate AGAIN in recent weeks. I'm sure Jacques Demers is among the top candidates that were available.

Environment Plan? fail. lame duck John Baird given new ministry, now known for his Toronto can "fuck off" comment. way to dismiss the economnic powerhouse of the country, douchebag.

Fixed election dates? fail. Harper calls an unneessary election for the sole purpose of trying for a majority...denies contravening his own fixed election date plan under the bullshit guise of this only applying to majority gov'ts. how convenient.

Balanced budget? fail. we all know that was b.s. by all parties, but publicly the CPC says 2015 (most economists laugh) and privately states they don't know when they can balance the books.

Transparency/accountability? fail. information has never been more restricted, gov't ministries have never been more muzzled and power has never been more concentrated and controlled in the PMO.

True colours? check! fires staff who provided $400k grant to Toronto Pride...a weeklong event that brings hundreds of millions of dollars into the economy and subsequently denies any funding to Montreal's event. gotta appease the right-wing homo haters among the party faithful, I suppose.

Hypocrisy? check! the CPC has the GALL to run a commercial this week saying that an election now is a *waste of money*. ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME??? Ignatieff forcing an election would be for the possibility of a change of gov't, while Harper's last election was nothing more than $200 million roll of the dice for him to score a majority.

Lies? check! the same commercial claims that Ignatieff supports a coalition, despite his repeated public statements he will not consider.

failures, fear mongering, lies and hypocrisy.

Voting will change nothing...its a fact.

I laugh at you people who think one party is better than the other. They are all the same once elected:

Broken promises, lies, and more broken promises.

come on dude, that's weak. to summarize it the way you just did is a gross oversimplification. I'm not saying that I agree with his position, but Ignatieff is a an academic and you know damn well his thoughts on the topic do not deserve such a simplistic summary of 'he supports torture' without any context.

Not voting will change nothing...that is a fact. I can't stand people who will not spend the 10-20 minutes it takes to go vote. If you are not going to vote then get out of the country. This is your chance to voice your opinion. In the last election I went and advised them I would not be voting as none of the candidates deserved my vote. I still did my civil duty.

I have voted in every election since I turned 18 and what has changed? NOTHING!!! The last election I voted for some Croatian guy running as an independent.

First you said:

If you are not going to vote then get out of the country.

Then you said this:
quote:

So you never voted, you just showed up and informed them you were not voting. So by your logic you should be out of the country.

Personally, I'd rather that people who don't take the time to educate themselves and instead base their opinion on whatever they hear second-hand would just stay home. People should vote, but only if they understand what they're voting for.

And I'm not only directing that to uneducated Liberal voters as opposed to Conservative (although I believe that there are more of the former). If you want to vote for the NDP because you're a hardcore socialist and support the unions then go and vote for the NDP. But if you're going to go out and vote Liberal because the Conservatives are Conservative and have a hidden agenda then please, stay home and watch TV instead.
