my opinion !! alain did better set...
barbara mmmmm so so
alain's opening and jason knight's closing were great... unfortunately, misstress barbara almost did what would normally be an opening set at ruby, except for last couple of tracks. sf need more "real" (non-minimal) low-ceiling-dark-room-kind-of-venue techno.
Thanks for the support and kind words!
Here's a recording from my set last night
Alain Octavo - Live @ Ruby Skye (Spundae) September 18th
well i know i said i would be there, but i was in town all afternoon riding my bike when my wheel got caught in a muni light rail track while bombing down irving and i took a header @ 20mph. i got pretty tore up, but fortunately i was literally at ucsf and got excellent free health care
i'm still hella sore though and missed out on a killer ride to santa cruz today, on top of missing last night
lucky for me alain's recording all his sets though!
I think she was monitoring and matching the crowd's energy level. Don't know why, when it got crowded, the energy level became lower and lower. It is strange, since usually when it is crowded, people feel less self-conscious about dancing.
But then at the end, the crowd got energetic for no reason at all. So she turned up the energy level accordingly. I can't imagine a DJ would plan her set that way beforehand. She must be matching the crowd's energy.
